More than one hundred spike winged crow was attacking a group of students.
Those spike winged crow's were larger than a human body, they had razor sharp spikes on their wings. Thats why they are called spike winged crow because of those sharp claws on their wings.
The students group was comprised of five members, one of them was a B-class wind elemental magician, a D-class earth elemental magician, a D-class fire elemental magician, a C-class lightning elemental and a D-class water elemental magician. The B-class wind elemental magician was heavily injured. The group was below average in strength, full of D and C ranked, so he was the only one who was stronger.
He beared the full brunt attacks of those crows from all side, keeping a wind shield around them with much difficulty.
Kris who was hiding nearby watched them with cold eyes as he sneered.
"Taking responsibility because you are strong? Because you are the leader? Such naivety. A bunch of fools.
I need to take action quickly, or else they might activate the safety measure. "
" Leader, what should we do? There is no end to these damned crows. " A student shouted with anxiety.
" Yes leader, should we activate the safety measure? " Another one agreed nodding his head continuously.
The B-class wind elemental magician frowned as he started analysing the situation.
" Wait a little more, its not as dire as you think.
Look around you, see if you could find anything that looks like a crystal ball. "
He continued to drain his mana while keeping the wind barrier active.
Three of them quickly acted, looking around searching while the other one was busy treating the leaders injury.
" Leader we found something, is this what you are talking about?"
They quickly found a crystal ball, which looked very weird, giving off faint green light.
" Crush it quickly. "
The leader busily shouted.
They didn't dare to neglect, quickly destroying the crystal ball.
Soon something surprising happened, the spike winged crows started to leave one by one.
Only three to five of them was left.
" Leader you are so amazing..."
" Yes leader is the best. "
They quickly praised the B-class wind elemental mage. But the guy wasn't happy about it, he was still vigilant as he quickly shouted.
" Kill them, if you don't want to end up as the last one in exam. "
Hearing his words the four of them quickly unleashed various kinds of spells. Attacking multiple spike winged crows at once.
The battle between man and crow ended not too long after. The group leader's injuries mostly recovered, as for the other four they had only lite injuries on their body.
But their countenance was pale and kept panting heavily. They were engaged in battle for more than three hours, so their mana reservation was already empty.
" Collect the cores and leave quickly. " The student who was the leader of the group cautioned.
They quickly collected the cores and started moving toward another direction.
As soon as they moved forward suddenly a change happened.
Their surroundings started to melt and black fog kept seeping out of nowhere.
Realizing something was amiss, they became extremely terrified.
The leaders expression was ugly as he kept scanning the surrounding, trying to understand something.
He shot a few wind blades but it vanished into thin air. One of them daringly jumped and tried moving out of the fog but upon touching it, his body started to decay.
He was horrified as he frantically tried to stop the erosion but no avail.
The corrosion speed of the black fog was extremely fast, in no time it melted all his skins.
The dress provided by the academy was long gone with the wind. It wasn't able to stop the fogs invasive ability.
In less than ten breaths of time only his head was left, his mouth and eyes were wide open.
The other four looked at the scene speechlessly. They didn't dare to move in the slightest, afraid of coming in contact with the fog.
" Leader what's going on! "
One of them panicked and shouted.
The B-class wind elemental mage was puzzled himself. He had done his own research over black tree forest. He never heard of such phenomena happening.
" This must be someone's trap again. We are being ambushed, activate the safety measure. " He quickly shouted, not daring to take risk.
But suddenly a shadow passed by him, it was extremely fast and swift.
" Hmm?"
He looked back to see what it was but with a splashing sound his head exploded like watermelon.
" Leader...!!!"
" Noo"
The three of them panicked, their spiritual support, strongest and knowledgeable member of the group was dead.
For a moment they didn't know what to do.
The shadow passed by again, another student died even before he could understand anything.
" You...show yourself...My father is a Baron..." His words didn't finish but he died like the other two.
The last one fainted from shock. He was just an apprentice mage so this much blood traumatized him.
" Coward. " Kris looked at the three headless corpse coldly, sneering disdainfully as he stepped on the last one's head who had fainted.
With a crack sound his head exploded, brain juice oozed out of the skull as blood splattered everywhere.
Kris looted their storage rings, bags, loots, and mana cores.
A wisp of black fire appeared on his palm. It shot toward the four dead bodies, burning them to nothingness.
Kris didn't dare to stop in that place for another moment. He used another movement spell, quickly disappearing, his body slowly melted with the forests darkness.
