Chapter 7: New faces part 2
Sean’s P.O.V:
I slowly walked along the path toward the river Emma had introduced me to recently. I needed some privacy, more like refuge from my parents.
Emma's accompaniment would have made the journey a much more enjoyable one, but she had been acting a little bipolar recently. She really wasn't acting like her usual self, and despite the fact her pendulum of a mood scared me I was still worried about her.
It’s like she's hiding things from me.
I shouldn't let it bother me though, I mean she tells me everything, right?
Soon enough I made it to the clearing where I could see the pond, and a girl?
She standing by the water. I watched her as she stared at the pond intently. Her hand then made its way into her hair and she began to tug at her roots before screaming out at nothing in particular.
"Emma?" I called. She spun around to look at me. Her eyes were wide with surprise and maybe curiosity.
"No, uhm, you must be mistaken," she said blinking at me in confusion.
I squinted my eyes a little before moving from behind some bushes to get closer. To my surprise it seemed that Emma wasn't the only one who knew about this place.
"Oh sorry, you look like someone I know, well not really I was too far away to make your face out, and it’s not like I just call random girls Emma,"
She stared at me for a while before letting out an uncomfortable chuckle.
I replied to that with a chuckle of my own before sighing. "So uhm are you like, okay?"
Right, make conversation with random screaming girl Sean, smart.
She hugged herself tightly, as if she was freezing cold.
"Oh, yeah, yeah I'm fine" she said dropping her hands only to fidget with the hem of her shirt after.
Right.
"Do you mind if I join you?" I asked as I moved around her and walked toward a rock to sit down on.
"Hey it's a free county"
She stood a good arm’s length away from me for some time while I stared at nothing in particular, thinking about Emma.
"Come here often?" she asked snapping me out of my thoughts. I blinked a few times before looking at her and shaking my head no.
"Oh yeah well me neither"
She stood away from me a little while longer before sighing and sitting on the ground next to me.
"Now was that so hard?" I teased giving her a smirk. She scoffed before rolling her eyes playfully.
"Well I'm sorry that I didn't want to get all cozy with a complete stranger"
We both laughed at that, and before I knew it we were talking to each other until nightfall. She was so interesting... Interesting enough to hold my attention for hours at least. I still hadn't gotten her name, but I'd be damned to break the conversation for something as insignificant as that. She was talking about how she had to fight off a bear at her science camp last summer, I wasn't gonna miss that piece of fictional crap for her name.
Because laughing at a strangers whimsical adventure is much more important.
I looked at her in amazement as she told me her story. She was grinning, eyes wide with amusement and hands flashing here and there with her animated gestures. Her hair was a jet black, it was the darkest shade of black some one's hair could possibly be, it almost resembled charcoal. She wore a beanie that covered almost the entirety of her forehead just above her very light blue eyes. They were pretty. Almost like a pale version of Emma's.
Emma Sanders, I wonder if this situation would be considered cheating.
Its amusing to say the least, were Emma and I even in a relationship?
I guess we're closer than friends, and I already had enough friends. I mean I had a few friends but none were as close to me as Emma was. I basically devoted most of my time to Emma.
God I'm whipped
"Hello? Are you even listening, seems you kind of zoned out there" she stated snapping her fingers in front of my face. I blinked a couple of times before giving her an apologetic smirk. "Girlfriend problems?"
"What?"
"Well you have the frustrated boyfriend look on your face"
I quirked an eyebrow at her and shook my head no.
"Oh uh no, I'm actually single"
Am I really though?
"Really? I don't believe that" she said with a smile Showing the small gap between her two front teeth.
Cute
"Well its true, no lie" I said as a chuckle escaped my lips. She scooted even closer to me and placed her head on my shoulder. I tensed a little and she wrapped her fingers around my arm.
Oh what a minx you are random chick.
"What's your name anyway?" she asked in a whisper, well more like a soft yawn.
Ahh, that insignificant question arises yet again
"Sean" I mumbled as she shifted to get more comfortable. She didn't respond. She shifted her body a few more times brushing her hair against my skin as she adjusted her head in the crook of my neck.
And now I'm uncomfortable
Gathering up the nerve to kindly tell her to get off me I slowly leaned back opting to get some space between us until she flew off me almost instantly. I gave her a quizzical look as she looked around frantically.
"You heard something?" she asked her eyes a wide from fear.
Great Sean of course you'd stumble upon a clingy hallucinating stranger.
"Probably a raccoon" I suggested.
"I'm sure raccoons don't speak. I thought I heard 'ouch' or something like that".
I chuckled nervously at her remark,
Crazy .
"it's probably just the wind, I'll show you there's nothing there" she seemed so scared, and kind of insane so I walked up to the bushes in the direction she was looking, just to keep her delusional mind at ease. I slowly approached the bushes and stopped as soon as I heard shuffling.
I mean what else could it have possibly been? I sure as hell wouldn't find out.
"See, nothing." I said as she walked closer to me.
"Mhm" she mumbled hugging herself. "I guess I should head home now"
"Oh Okay, I'll follow you"
God I sound like a stalker.
She smiled at me before shaking her head.
"As cute as that sounds, I'd rather not show a stranger where I live"
Yup stalker
"I guess your right" I smiled back at her.
"Okay, goodnight Sean" she said before rushing off.
I watched as she ran off in the opposite direction from where I came, before turning my attention back to the pond.
And I still didn’t know her name.
