Six years later...
Elias
It has been six years and I haven't found the woman I had a one night stand with. She disappeared from the surface of the earth without any trace.
Not even my informant can find her. My secretary, Shawn, has been unable to locate her. I should have given up on her by now but I can't.
I wronged her that night, thinking she was my girlfriend that I broke up with later on after I caught her cheating with another man.
Nevertheless, I haven't forgotten how that young Miss had endured me without raising an alarm. What disturbed me the most was the blood I found on the sheets the next morning. She was a virgin who I shouldn't have touched.
I paused my thoughts and looked outside the airplane's window. We will be landing in New York a minute from now.
"Please, dear passengers, take your seats and prepare for landing. We have arrived in New York City. Welcome to the city that never sleeps," the pilot announced.
"Mr. Knight, please can you take a look at our survey treats. If there is anything you would like please let me know," A young flight attendant offered with a bright smile .
I nodded in response, collecting a mini booklet from her. Once she was gone, I passed it to my secretary.
"Take care of that Shawn. Settle the attendant with anything you wish. I have other things to take care of," I said and he sighed knowing that my excuse was invalid.
"When will you stop acting oblivious to everything? It is obvious that she was flirting with you. Why do I have to be the one to close up the deal?" He protested.
Shawn and I have been best friends since childhood. Anyone would think of us as brothers because of our closeness.
"Look at you. When last did you get into a relationship? I am only doing you a favor by passing down the chick. It is your choice to make, whether you want it or not," I said, patting his shoulder gently before focusing on my tablet.
The plane landed safely a few minutes later. Shawn and I strode through the airport quietly until a certain woman walked through the passenger terminal, catching the attention of everyone and a group of paparazzi.
"Rey, over here!"
"We love you, Rey!"
"Ahhh, you are so beautiful Rey!"
They screamed, gathering the woman as she walked through the terminal. This was the daily life of a celebrity, being chased around by fans and reporters.
"When is our new ambassador arriving?" I asked, turning to Shawn who was also taking a photo of the woman.
"What are you doing?" I thundered but he remained unmoved.
"I am a big fan of Rey. She is someone I cannot miss. You have to stand aside and let me take the pictures I want," he casually said, continuing with his pictures.
Seeing his determination to stan the celebrity, I decided to stand aside until he was done taking the amount of photos he wanted.
"You are crazy."
"I know," he gladly accepted, fawning over the photos he took.
"So what were you talking about?" He asked.
"The ambassador, for the company's new launch. Don't tell me you forgot about it," I queried him and he took up his phone, walking ahead of me.
I watched him talk over the phone and noticed the frustrated frown on his face.
After he was done talking, I slightly coughed gaining his attention.
"So what bad news do you have to share with me?" I stomped my left foot waiting for his answer.
"First of all, let's get into the car and discuss the situation at hand," he said with a nervous smile that made me sigh.
Once we entered the car waiting for us at the entrance of the airport, he began his explanation.
"First of all, I apologize for my forgetfulness Mr. Knight. It is truly unprofessional for me to forget an important matter like this. However, I have called the model who is supposed to represent the company's brand but she seems to be fully booked. But there is still a chance for me to find a model with forty-eight hours." He explained.
"And how do you intend to pull this off within a short period?" I lifted a questioning brow at him.
"There is a fashion dinner that will be held at Red city tonight. From what I heard, there will be a lot of models who I can contact and discuss the brand ambassadorship with. Surely, there will be some of them interested in working with the Empire corporation," he smartly said.
After hearing his plan, I decided to give him a chance to make up for his mistake.
We drove down to my company and met my parents who were holding a board meeting when I arrived.
"Oh, my son. When did you come back? Look at how stressed you look. How about you take a day off?" My mother suggested as she took my hand and led me to the sofa in her husband's office.
"He is no longer a kid, Estelle. I should be the one taken care of," my Dad bluffed obviously jealous that his wife was paying attention to me.
Their love for each other never grew old and I know that someday, I will look at a woman just the way my father does to my mom.
"Don't be ridiculous. You sent my son to a war zone just because of a business meeting. I haven't forgiven you for doing that," my mom snapped at him and he recoiled to his shell, now trying to please her with his silly jokes and praises.
"You have nothing to worry about Mom. The business trip went well and our company is ready to expand further," I explained the outcome of my trip to them.
"That's my son. Now take a take off and get some rest. Your mom and I will handle the rest of the company until you are ready to take over," my Dad assured, gently patting my shoulder.
After catching up with them, Shawn and I left to prepare for the dinner.
"Have you gotten the invitation cards for us?" I asked, even though it was not necessary since the fashion dinner was held by a subsidiary under Empire corporation.
"Yes. Everything is in place," he said and we continued with our suit fitting.
Once it was five in the evening, we drove down to the event.
I went through the back gate since I didn't want much attention from the crowd. They would only try to talk about business with me or try to hook up with Shawn.
We stood at a quiet corner and watched the guests troop in until a peculiar woman walked into the hall.
For the first time in years, I felt my heart stop and the whole room matched my silence.
"Shawn, who is that lady standing by the door? Whoever she is, I want her as the new brand ambassador." I declared, mesmerized by her aura.
