Chapter 7: A word of advice

Damien's POV

I walked out of the house with a grin on my face. Breakfast has been very interesting after a long time. I just loved teasing her and getting under her skin. I don't know why and I don't care, at least I won't get bored for some time now. I remembered her face when I was staring at her and sniggered. She really is interesting but I must not get too attached to her. She will be on her way soon and again it will leave me alone. I wish this loneliness would end sometime.

I fished my phone out of my pocket and dialed the number of my best friend Alex.

"Hey Alex"

"Hey Damy"

I scowled at his nick name and growled out "Don't call me that"

"Yeah yeah I am scared. So when are you coming to review the treaty."

"Now, inform your grumpy wolves of my arrival. We don't want a repeat of last time now would we?"

"Hey! They were just being protective of their pack."

I huffed "No. they were being idiots."

Last time I went into his territory to review the treaty and this i***t forgot to inform his pack about my arrival who when I entered into the pack lands took me for an intruder activated all the traps around the borders. So there I was hanging upside down from a tree cursing Alex like a sailor. He finally came and started laughing while rolling on the floor clutching his stomach. He even took a picture of me. Since the rope holding me was silver I couldn't do much because it sucks our strength. Alex finally calmed down and got me down. Well I broke his nose that day.

I just hope he doesn't forget to inform them today otherwise I will break his arm.

I entered the pack lands and no one attacked. Alex was at the gate with his mate Cara and his 5 year old son Daniel.

"Hey man" Alex said while shaking my hand "Hey"

"Hey Cara" I said while kissing her cheeks "Hey Damien"

"Uncle Damy..." Daniel said running up to me. I took him in my arms and turned to Alex who was laughing. "Alex stop teaching your son nonsense. Daniel its Uncle Damien not Damy."

"Ok now let's all get inside and talk." Cara said while going inside and we all followed suit.

Once inside the office we discussed the treaty according to which we will help each other in times of need and also we can roam each other's territory freely without permission in case of an emergency. After this treaty was signed we engaged in a more casual conversation.

"So Damien what's up with you these days? Found any girl yet." He asked wiggling his eyebrows.

I exhaled loudly and said slowly "You know how it is Alex. Whenever I tell a girl the truth of who I am they either scream bloody murder or start fangirling me and I have to erase their memory of me. No one wants me for who I am. I just have lost hope that I will ever find my beloved."

"Hey now don't sulk like a girl. I am sure she will come around don't lose hope Damien. So what's this I have been hearing about a girl you been caring for."

"Wait, hold up. Where did you hear that from?"

"I have my sources. Now spill"

"She was injured and I provided her with a roof." I shrugged

"Maybe this girl can be what you have been waiting for."

"I highly doubt that she is young and immature, she won't be able to handle the truth and anyways she will be on her way soon enough, so I don't think so."

"Damien you have to at least try. How will you know she is the one or not if you don't even try."

"Hmm... I will think about it. Now I will be on my way."

"I will escort you to the borders" I nodded and stood up and walked out of the office with Alex in tow.

On the way we passed the kitchen where Cara was cooking. "Hey love I will be back in a few."

"Won't you stay for lunch Damien?"

"Maybe next time. I have to be home today."

"Ok"

"Bye love." Alex said and kissed her "I love you"

"I love you too."

A ting of jealously touched my heart seeing them. I want that too. I want a family. Werewolves have it so easy as their mates are already chosen by the moon goddess. You just have to wait to get their scent and one look you will instantly fall in love. For us vampires we have to choose our beloved and then bound our souls together for eternity. Maybe Alex is right, maybe I should try with.... With.... Oh hell I don't know her name. I was pulled out of my thoughts when Alex came towards me.

"Come on lets go. I saw the look on your face seeing me and Cara together. Man just trust me and try with this girl of yours. Maybe everything you ever want is right in front of your eyes you just have to want it."

I did not reply just keep walking ahead with my thoughts and eager to return home.
