CHAPTER THREE

1000 Words
Mason's P.O.V I looked at the lady i bumped into, I knew i recognized that face somewhere. Audrey Bennett, she was reported missing a few years ago, word had it she ran off with her lover. The blogs talked about it for weeks and when she was finally found, her parents fell ill and died shortly after she returned. She looked so pale, something was definitely bothering her, i watched her go over to sit at the lobby. "Boss why not sit over there, let me go tell the judge you've arrived." Brian said. I waved my hand for him to go, then i walked over to where audrey was sitting just in time to hear her conversation, then it struck me. Long after Audrey Bennett was gone, i took the elevator up to the judge's chamber, i was confident now of what i was about to do. I was finally going to get my daughter out of that toxic hell hole Dianne called a house, her frolicking in front of a seven year old were numbered; "Good morning Mr Sullivan." the judge said as he stood up to shake my hand. "Good morning Judge Morris." "I know why you're here Mr Sullivan, And like i said before. The Jury ruled in favor of your wife be...." "Ex-wife." i corrected. "I'm sorry, ex-wife because they believe the story she painted out to them and except you are here to tell me you're married, i cannot do anything." "Sometimes you talk way too much for your age, Judge Morris." i smiled, "I came here to know how long the transfer of custody will take after i get married?" Judge Morris looked confused at me, but then he replied; "About a month...." "Make it one week, i don't care how much of paper work has to be done but i need my child with me immediately i am married." "But you're yet to marry." "I've been seeing someone and i didn't say anything all this while because i wanted to be sure i would marry her....But now i'm certain. We marry in a week, i would invite you but we'll be here to sign the marriage certificate anyway." i said as i stood up to leave. "Mason, " judge morris called as i was about to open the door, aside being the judge that handled my divorce case, he and i were good friends and so were our fathers. "Your daughter will move in with your new bride." "Thank you Morris." i said and walked out the door. Audrey and I have agreed to go out a couple of times, get to know each other and get out stories straight. There will be no contradictions if we're going to sell it so they believe it's real, i need to mend the reputation dianne tarnished and only Audrey could do that for me. Her reputation is stainless, even when she ran off with Enzo Peterson, she was painted as romantic and a lovestruck teenager. Her parents took all the blame for her disappearance, they were criticized for not supporting the young love of their only daughter and were accused of wrong parenting. This was the actual reason Martha Bennett, Audrey's mother had a heartattack and fell ill, society reads a story that was badly stated in the blogs and criticize people for the wrong reasons. He was not ready to let Dianne off so easily, he would make sure she feels every bit of humiliation there is, she would know that crossing him and dragging his family name to the mud was her biggest mistake. "Find out Audrey Bennett's address, Send an exquisite dinner dress over. Also send a bouquet with a card, stating when and where our first date will be." i said to brian on our way to the office. "Are you sure about this boss?" "Do you have any other idea of getting my daughter?" "I'm sorry boss, i will get to it." he adjusted his glasses and tapped on his iPad. "Let the show begin." i muttered to myself. Audrey's P.O.V "Are you crazy?! How can you accept to marry a man you barely know?!" Amy yelled, was she trying to bust my eardrums or what? "Stop yelling!" "I will bloody well yell if i want to. Don't you read the paper? Or the blogs? Have you not heard of what he did to his ex-wife, Dianne White?" I rolled my eyes, "Don't believe everything you read amy and besides, i'm not actually marrying for pleasure. Just until i get my revenge, we can get a divorce afterwards, i have no interest in a romantic relationship anyway." i took a slice of pizza and munch on it, i was so hungry. "You are playing with fire, audrey bennett. Your quest for revenge is blinding you, can't you see it?" "Amy, not now." "What makes you think he's going to let you go just like that? Is there an agreement to this?" Amy asked, i wanted to tell her i wasn't the only one benefiting from all this but i didn't have Mason's permission first "He agreed to it after i explained everything. You worry too much Amy, you act like my mother when you're just two years older than me." "I promised uncle i would look after you, you're making it so difficult, i forgot how stubborn you are." "I'm twenty three Amy, I'm an adult okay." "Do you know how old he is?" she asked. "Who?" "Mason Sullivan." "No, i didn't ask. Is it relevant?" "You don't even know his age, nothing about him." "okay, okay, i will ask him everything you want to know on our dates. If you find anything odd, i look for someone else to marry, is that alright with you?" Amy sighed and wiped her face with her palm; "Fine, one date and that's it." "Four." "Two." "Three." "Alright, Fine." "Now please, have a slice of pizza and let's talk about something else."
