CHAPTER SIX

1000 Words
Audrey's P.O.V After mason and his driver dropped me off, i went to my room and had a warm bath, i laid down on my bed reminiscing. Mason seemed calm, he was a real gentleman, unlike what Amy said, i took my laptop and checked him out. The news of his divorce were all over the blogs: 'Billionaire husband, Mason Sullivan is stripped of sixty-five percent of his wealth to his ex-wife over domestic violence, s****l molestation and irresponsibility.' 'Mason Sullivan, CEO of Sullivan Industries escapes jail penalty for s****l assault, physical abuse and child negligence.' I frowned, the Mason Sullivan i saw tonight looked nothing like what the papers or blogs say about him. He was calm, gentle and reserved, or maybe i was judging him fair, i didn't know him well enough anyway. I closed my laptop and went to bed, i had a list of rules lined out in my head and since our next date was in two days, i might as well use the opportunity to really study him...for my safety of course. "Audrey." I could hear my name so faintly, i turned away from the blinding light seeping through the curtains."Audrey wake the hell up." i heard the voice more clearly, Amy was calling and shaking me constantly. "What?" i stretched. "Wake up and tell me about your date." Amy said. "Are you serious? You woke me up for this?" "Why not, i've been worried." she said and pouted. "Do i look beaten and bruised? I'm fine, it went well and he was nice." "They always do on first date. When is your next date?" "Tomorrow we do lunch, please quit worrying." "You were never this careless and unbothered, what happened to you? Where is the sweet, cautious and loving Audrey i know?" "She grew up." I stood up from the bed and went into the bathroom, i emerged five minutes later. "Hungry? let's go out." "Why? Just ask the chef to make something." she said lazily. "I need to get out of the house, it's depressing for me." I applied my skincare and quickly got dressed. "Fine, I'm craving the cheeseburger anyway." "Great." Twenty minutes later, we were out of the house with Amy driving. I always complained she drove like an old lady, and sometimes she seems so stiff and boring. She hardly goes out to have fun or make friends, she's a professional geek; "Urgh, can you step on it? It's Sunday, we'll miss the good spots." i complained. "I have my speed limits remember, Besides we can sit by the lawn if your favorite table has been snatched." she said, she was annoyingly cute with that glasses and silly ponytail, i removed it and let her hair lose. "Hey!" "You look ridiculous Amy. Let down your hair more often, you have beautiful blonde hair and amazing green eyes. Why dress so.....uptight." "I'm not uptight." she clenched her teeth. "Stop!" She stopped abruptly, "What?! What is it?" I ignored her and continued to stare at the couples i saw, Enzo Peterson and my best friend, Stephanie Parker right there. I never thought i would see them so soon, he was towering over her and whispering something that made her laugh. I so wanted to go over there and punched Enzo in the face, but i wasn't ready for any of them to see me. "Let's go home." i said. "Are you going to let them ruin your afternoon?" Amy asked. "Let's just go home, we can order in." "Okay then." thankfully Amy didn't press on, i took one last look at them before she drove off. We arrived home and i went to pour myself a drink; "Your constant drinking won't help, You should move on." "How can i? I don't feel anything anymore, not love, not pity, care, no emotions whatsoever....Just hate, hatred towards Enzo, towards all men." "That's not true. I know you Dre, you're only hurt and until you let go, you can't feel anything. You need to let go" "I can't, i won't." I drained the glass and crushed it. "Audrey! Stop!" Amy yelled but it was too late. I gasped when it broke and the debris got into my hand, she called the house keeper to get the medical kit and she fixed my hand. "You're impossible." she said. "Maybe you should move in with me, i might hurt myself again, Doctor Amy." "This isn't a joke Audrey." "I'm sorry." I hissed when she wrapped my palm with a guaze bandage. "Do you still have nightmares?" she asked "Yes." "Still having trouble sleeping sometimes?" "Yes." Amy sighed sadly, "Well, you can't go out with mason like this." "Then he'll come to me, we'll have lunch at the office." "You're going to the office?" she looked surprised. "Of course, there hasn't been any new products since dad died. It's time i get to work, after all i'm a perfumer myself, ain't i?" "That's good news, i love that." she packed the medical kit and handed it back to Heather. "Can we have dinner tomorrow?" I asked "I'm sorry Dre, I'm on the night shift tomorrow. Maybe some other time?" "Sure, of course." I looked away She raised my chin to look at her, "You're not alone okay, i will always be there for you." "I know." I hugged her and she did too. "I love you." "I love you too." she responded. Monday was here and i was a little nervous about my first day at work, i didn't want to embarrass myself in front of the employees, who now work for me. With Heather's help, i had my bath, got dressed and headed out. When i arrived, everyone was waiting at the lobby to receive me, i mustard up the courage, stepped out of the car and into the building. "Good morning ma'am." Mr Erin was the first to greet. "Good morning miss bennett!!!!!" Then rest of the staffs "Good morning Mr Erin, Good morning everyone."
