Chapter Two - Let's Party!

1026 Words
Alice's POV Wolf? I could not help but burst into a series of laughter. I clutch my stomach tight and laugh out loud at my grandparents' comedy. I shook my head at them and said, amidst my laughter, "You both are good comic relief to be honest. Wolf? Me?" "This is a serious matter, Alice! You need to take it seriously!" Rowan snaps at me with an angry look plastered on his face. His face is red, and he clenches his fist tight, revealing his veins and wrinkles. Why is he so angry? Is it because I did not laugh enough at his jokes? Or is he really expecting me to agree with him? "Cut me some slack, Rowan, I am extremely late for my class. If you have any other jokes to tell, please tell that to Gran Gran, she will laugh at literally anything you say." I paused to wink at Gran gran. I turn around and attempt to walk away, but the same sharp feeling from earlier attacks me again. I feel a jolt of electricity course through my veins causing me to yelp in pain. "It is happening." That is what Rowan said. I scoffed and turned to gaze at him with a frown on my face. This is probably just as a result of indigestion or something. Why is he making it sound too serious? "Nothing is happening! I do not understand why you are filling my head with bullshits like wolves. Okay, I come from a lineage of werewolves, so what? Why are you guys not wolves as well? Show me, shift into wolves and I will believe you." I snapped at them. My grandfather sighs heavily. He runs a hand through his gray hair and goes ahead to slowly emphasize his words. "We are parents of your mother. Your father was a werewolf and your mother got bitten by him. We are not werewolves, but we know about your father's family. They were all werewolves." Rowan says. I rolled my eyes at him. How does he expect me to buy this lie? "You keep saying werewolves are shape-shifters?" I raised a brow at him. "Half wolf, half human." Gran gran is the one who speaks this time. She clears her throat and continues to speak. "You should give this more thoughts baby, I know that you are smarter than this and deep down inside of you, you know that your grandfather and I would never lie to you." She says. I sigh heavily and mutter a cuss under my breath as I start pacing the living room with both of my hands on my head. I can not exactly ignore my grandparents' words. They have been the ones to raise me ever since I lost my parents. There is no way in hell that they would lie to me. But why now? Werewolf? How am I supposed to adjust to that? "Okay." I say. Rowan and Gran Gran adjust their postures on the couch and gaze at me with wide eyes. "You believe us?" Gran Gran asks. I nod my head in agreement and force a smile on my face. "I do, and I agree that I am a werewolf, but this werewolf is late for class and has a party to attend later." I groan in frustration. My grandparents sigh heavily, not one of relief but of worry. I furrow my brows into deeper confusion. What other bombs have they not dropped yet? The full moon story? I have watched movies and this is how it always happens. "What is it?" I asked in a bored tone. "About the party..." Rowan trails off. "You will not be able to attend your birthday party Alice." "What?" I yell, my jaw drops and my eyes widen in surprise. How could they tell me that? For what reason? Because werewolves do not party? I have looked forward to hosting this party and now Rowan is telling me that I can not even attend my own birthday party. I refuse! "Alice baby, your first transformation is tonight. It is usually very bloody, your bloodlust is at its peak and, since this is your first transformation, you could get triggered by anything and hurt someone." Gran Gran explains. I can no longer take any of their s**t. First they tell me that I am a werewolf, which, by the way, I am still finding that hard to believe. Now they are telling me not to go out because, for some stupid reason, I am shifting into a werewolf and killing someone? Unbelievable! "This is unfair." I said, shaking my head in disappointment at my grandparents. I feel tears prick from the corner of my eyes. I bite my lower lip to hold back the teats that threaten to fall from my eyes. I suddenly feel destabilized, my emotions seem to be more intensified than normal. "I hate you both!" I yelled at them. Without wasting any more time, I rushed back into my room and locked the door behind me. I throw myself on the bed and break down into tears. Why is this happening to me ? My phone suddenly rings out loud, I gaze at the caller ID, noting that it is a call from my boyfriend. I ignore it and continue to cry my eyes out. I remain in my room until it is nightfall. Gran gran had come to check on me earlier. She tried to offer me food, and she said she wanted to talk, but the last person I wanted to see was her. That is because I trust her more than I trust Rowan, yet I feel like I just got stabbed in the back by her. The good thing is that I will not be missing this party at all. My party. I had already changed into my birthday dress, a blue fitted knee-length dress. I applied my make-up as well. I walked towards the window and, without hesitation, I jumped down. To my uttermost surprise, I landed perfectly. Nothing is going to make me miss my twentieth birthday party. Wolf or not. Let's party!
