Rhea's POV “I, Alpha Leo Sanders, reject you, Rhea Lockhart as my mate.” Blood rushed through my veins as I stood in the middle of the hall with my heart in my throat, wondering where it all went wrong. Subtle whispers filled the space around us, and I could feel the weight of the judgmental stares that were cast my way. No. No this couldn't be happening. Not Today. “Leo!” I desperately grabbed onto his arm as he turned to leave, but he jerked out of my grip, and the force of the strength made me fall back to the ground. Pain shot through my body, but it couldn’t compare to what I felt inside. “Leo please wait.” I grabbed onto his leg, looking up at him with tears in my eyes. But Leo was unfazed, the eyes that once looked at me with warmth and love, now held contempt and disgust. His charming smile was also replaced with a snarl. “Let go of me Rhea.” there was no comfort in his tone, but a curt coldness that sliced through me. I knew I was causing a scene, but I couldn't help it, this was supposed to be my most memorable night. I had just turned eighteen, and I awaited the awakening of my wolf, knowing it would mark a new stage in my life. But unfortunately, my wolf never came, and I was tagged as an Omega. Even still, I had expected Leo to stand by me, since we’ve been together since we were sixteen….he was supposed to stand by me. “Why are you doing this?” I couldn't help but ask, feeling my tears roll down my cheeks, dragging streaks of mascara along with it. “Don't you love me anymore?” “Love?” Leo scoffed, and then he kicked my hands off his feet, watching with satisfaction as I yelped in pain. “Stop fooling yourself Rhea, I would never love an Omega like you. What use would you bring to my pack if I made you my Luna hmm?” I hung my head low, clenching my fists at my sides till my knuckles turned white. “Why now?” I muttered, “Why did you have to shame me in front of everyone.” Tonight was the annual homecoming of the daughters and sons of the Alphas of the reigning pack in the region. I might be an Omega, but it was no crime, so why would he go so far to disgrace me, was this the boy I had loved for the past two years? Leo responded with a casual shrug of his shoulders, “So you would know your palace in the world,” he stated as if it were obvious, a sinister smile pulling at the corners of his lips. “I already have someone I want to spend the rest of my life with.” “What?” My head snapped up, and soon I heard a familiar snicker from behind me, followed by the clicking of heels against the tiled floor. My eyes widened in shock as my sister emerged from the crowd, a satisfied grin resting on her lips as she brushed past me, moving to stand beside Leo. Leo's cold expression softened on seeing her, and I tried to ignore the sting in my chest, but the air was becoming too thick to breathe. His arms slithered around her waist, bringing her close so he could peck her lips. “Maya is my true mate,” he announced, making sure everyone heard. Maya glanced my way with a sly smirk as she pressed her breast against Leo's arm to get his attention. “Let's enjoy the rest of the party dear, there is no need to waste time on someone like her.” Leo nodded, brushing a strand of her red hair behind her ears with a fond smile. “Alright, dear.” With that said, they both left the scene, leaving me in my shattered world. The whispers around me got louder, like an endless siren ringing in my ears. “How pathetic.” “Is she a daughter of an Alpha?” “An Omega like her should've never been invited.” “She tries so hard to be like Maya.” It was too much. It was just too much. I staggered to my feet, gathering my dress in my hands as I broke into a run. I left the event, letting out a strangled cry as I ran to wherever my legs took me. To think I was living in a sky castle all this while, dreaming of a life so far out of reach. Once again Maya had stood in the spotlight, while I was forgotten in her shadow. It was a pattern that had reigned all through my life. Maya was the pretty one, the strong one, the intelligent one, the one my parents would take to events to boast of their influence on her. But me…. I was treated like a secret they wanted to lock away. I somehow made it home, and I wanted nothing more than to hide in my room and rot on the bed. But My parents awaited my return as they sat in the living room, and I instinctively knew it was going to be far from pleasant. “Good evening Father, Mother.” I croaked, my voice devoid of any emotion. My father glared at me, his nostrils flaring. “Where are you coming from?” he says, his cold gaze brushing over me. I suddenly lost my voice at his intimidating aura, glancing at my mother for help. But she looked away with a light shake of her head. I was f****d. “T-The….Homecoming event.” I stuttered in fear, my heart thumping hard against my chest. Father narrowed his eyes at me. “Who gave you permission to attend?” I didn’t think I needed permission to attend. I was his daughter so I had every right to be there. But instead of saying this, I chewed on my bottom lip, staring down at my muddy stiletto heels. “I….” Nothing came to mind, and I heard my father heave out an exasperated sigh. “You acted on your own accord and disgraced our pack’s name!” I flinched as he raised his voice, tears clouding my vision. My shoulders shook as I struggled to keep them from rolling down my cheeks. “I’m sorry….” “Blame no one but yourself for the conservative of your actions.” Slowly, I raised my head, trying to comprehend his statement. “What are you going to do to me?” A moment of silence passed, the tension in the air stretching out like an elastic spring. My father’s demeanor changed, and he was no longer Mr. Lockhart but the head of the Silver Fang Pack. “Rhea Lockhart, You are an Omega with no value to our pack. And as a liability, you are hereby dismissed,” Dread pooled in my stomach and settled there, but nothing could have prepared me for what my father said next. “We’ve made arrangements for you to be sent off to the Red Moon Pack.” I felt a sense of dread in my stomach. At that moment, I wished the ground would open up and swallow me whole, as it was much better than being sent to the most notorious pack in the region. “No…” my voice trembled as I shook my head, “I won’t do it.” My father merely snapped his fingers and in a flash the guards emerged from the shadows, pinning me against the ground. My eyes widened in fear as one of them raised a syringe containing sedatives, the glint of the needle blinding me. I helplessly glanced at my mother, but she didn’t move an inch, her expression impassive. “No!” I trashed against their hold, but they were far stronger than me. “You can’t do this! I’m your daughter!” My father towered over me as I felt the needle prick my skin. A glint of contentment flashed in his eyes, and I don’t know if it was my imagination, but his lips curved into a knowing smirk for a brief moment. “We’ve officially disowned you.” That was the last thing I heard before the darkness closed in around me.
