The First

The First Date

    Leaving here is always very difficult. I feel bonded with this place. The ranch has a certain sense of peace that I can never find anywhere else, it is my piece of heaven on Earth. I walk to the lake one last time for a moment of reflection... I guess? I'm not sure, I just want one more moment in this dream of a place before I have to get back to reality. The sun is just rising above the trees, the morning mist dances gracefully above the water. The pure smell of earth fills my lungs and calms my racing mind. The wind lightly caresses the treetops making them softly sway. The warmth of the sunlight hits my face yet it sends chills throughout my body. I lean against the railing on the dock and absorb this moment, I take a mental photograph as I gaze at the beauty before me. A few minutes pass and I hear someone walking towards me on the dock. I know who it is without needing to look. I smile and say, "Hi Luke, almost ready to go?" He wraps his arms around my waist and rests his head on my shoulder, I feel him smell my hair and neck as he says, "Never, I'm never ready to go when it comes to this place." He holds me tighter and I feel his abs and all his muscles ripple against my back. I blush and turn my face away in a feeble attempt to hide my rosy red cheeks. Luke laughs a quiet laugh and turns me around so I'm facing him. He takes my face in to his hands and looks me deep in to my eyes, I feel like he can see my soul with how intensely he's staring at me. "I'm going to marry you one day. We will be together forever. I promise you." Luke finishes his sentence and kisses me softly. This perfect moment is interrupted by Jay, "Okay now kiddos, its time to go. Car is ready. Let's go!" Back to reality.

    The car ride back wasn't too bad I was in the back of the van with Austyn and Luke. It was fun. Luke told us some of the stuff Julian told him, he made plans with Julian to come back next summer for the pack. Austyn said we should all go up and make another trip out of it. I agreed, I will take any excuse to come back. Austyn put his hand on my leg and looked at Luke, "Bro theres a dance at school coming up. Should we be scandalous and both show up with Mercedes." My eyes widened. Luke laughed, "Hell yeah lets do it! We can stay at my house. My mom and sisters will be out of town that whole weekend." The boys high five each other and grin at me. I smirk at them, "How silly of you to assume I will go with either of you. I need to be asked." I smile and look away, feeling satisfied with myself. I can feel Luke's confidence bursting through him, "Okay baby doll, we'll both ask you." Austyn grips my thigh harder and says, "Yes ma'am." I think I won this round. 

    The rest of the ride back went by pretty quickly. Luke and I were dropped off at my house since he parked his car there. Its Saturday so my parent's are home. Luke and I go towards the house and ring the doorbell. My dad gets the door and smiles at us. "Hey! How was the trip!" my dad asks as we walk in the house. "Well, it was great, I was actually about to ask Mercedes if we all could go somewhere for breakfast?" My mom walks towards us and says, "Hi guys. Breakfast sounds good. We don't have plans until tonight. Give us like 20 minutes and we'll go somewhere." My parents walk away. I kiss Luke on the cheek and we take our shoes off. I decide that I'm going to go take a quick shower, clean off the road trip from my body. I tell Luke and he heads to the living room to sit with my dad. I bring my stuff up to my room and throw my bags on to my bed. My parent's bedroom door is open and I see my mom packing stuff in to a duffle bag. I walk to her doorway and say, "Where are you guys going? I feel like you might have told me but I think I may or may not have forgotten." My mom smiles, "Dad and I are going to Hinckley with Lara, Gapa, and Nana for the weekend. Mariah is going to be at a friend's and Royce is going to be with Grandpa Sonny. You going to be okay?" Oh I totally forgot about that. "Oh, yeah," I smile as I reply to her, "I remember. I'll be fine I can work on some stuff for school. Maybe go out with Luke and the guys. I don't know. I'll figure it out." My mom looks at me and squints, "He is not to go in to your room. Living room, kitchen, dining room, bathroom, and outside. Got it?" Ha, nope... "Yeah, we probably will be out and about." Mom resumes packing, "Don't be too late, text Dad or I when you leave here and where you are. Check in please. We will be back on Sunday evening around 5 or 6" I nod, "Okay, I know, I will. I gotta rinse off, I need like 10 minutes then I'll be ready." Mom nods as she walks in to her closet. I quickly get in to the shower. Luke and I will have some more time together, a fun little sleepover. My body starts to feel hot. I cannot wait till my parents leave. I let my thoughts run wild, I picture myself and Luke, I am on top of him. My mind is consumed by this thought, I see myself as if I'm watching a movie. I stop at the bottom step so I'm eye level with Luke, "Gee thanks, I am honored at the invite." Luke winks at me and we all leave. We all get in to the mini van and my mom re-explains the plans with them going out of town. Luke acts respectfully while texting me. He tells my mom, "Yes, I know the rules. I respect the boundaries you guys set. We probably will go shopping, maybe dinner or a movie." I look down at my phone and read the text he sent me, "I'm going to f**k the life out of you baby." I text back, "Oh? Really? What about those boundaries?" Luke quickly replies, "I've already slid in to your boundaries, it got a little slippery and wet." Seeing his response made me drop my phone. My dad looked back and said, "And that, my daughter, is why I said you have to get a phone case." My dad turned back around as I leaned forward to pick up my phone.     We got to iHop and were seated at a booth. My parents asked about our time at the ranch. We told them about the parts that we could tell them about. I described the lake and the house and my mom had lots of questions, like she normally does. Luke and I talked about school but the conversation broke off because my dad and Luke started talking about football since Luke is the quarterback. My mom asked me a few more questions about the ranch and I was answering when out of nowhere she looked around and asked, "Have you guys had sex." Luke and my dad heard and stopped talking. Luke looked at me then my mom. My dad tried to break the awkward silence, "Meg come on, don't-" My mom looked at my dad and interrupted him, "No I like Luke but I want to know if they are sexually active, I have a right to know, she's my daughter." My parents looked back at us. I leaned back in to my seat and Luke held my hand and said, "Yes ma'am, we have." My dad picked up his menu and mentally left the conversation as my mom asked, "Are you safe about it?" My dad looked over the top of the menu and looked right at Luke waiting for an answer. "Yes, we are very cautious. I want you both to know, that I love your daughter very much. One day, when the time is right I want her to be my wife. We love each other." My mom looked at my dad. My dad looked back and nodded at my mom. He looked back at us and said, "Well that was a little uncomfortable, Luke we trust you with our daughter but do not be reckless and do not hurt her." Luke looked at me and I looked back at him as he said, "I will never hurt her." The moment was interrupted by the waitress coming to take our order. I have never been so happy to see a waitress. We finished breakfast and went back to my house. My mom suggested that we watch some home videos and Luke thought that was a good idea. He loved seeing younger pictures and videos of me. Luke went home a few hours later and I got some school work done. 

    The next morning my parents left around 10am. My grandpa came at 9am and picked up my brother. My sister left with my parents and was dropped off at her friend's house. The house was quiet, I loved it. Sometimes I just need time to myself and I was looking forward to some TV and food. I turned on the TV after putting a hot pocket in the microwave. I turned on Ghost Adventures, I love this show, Zac is nice to look at. I lay down and set my phone on the floor near me. A few hours go by and my phone buzzes. It's Aus calling. Aus replies "We are at Crystal Lake doll. I'll come get you if you want. Luke got the boat from his dad." I put Aus on speaker and start to change.     I lock up the house and turn to see Austyn opening the car door for me. I sit and he shuts the door. He backs out of the driveway and we start to head to the lake.
