“Alpha!” Clover and Lenn both screamed as Ezra lunged at the two men, grabbing the man that was in between Ember’s legs by the collar. The other man quickly let go of Ember's arms and attempted to scramble to his feet, his face full of fear as a liquid slowly darkened his pants. Ezra threw the man in his hands at the one fleeing, his once forest green eyes now completely black as his fangs elongated and his hands shifted to his sharp claws ready to tear apart the men.
Ezra stalked to the corner of the cell where the men were attempting to get up. The large man not noticing the trembling woman in the opposite corner, staring at the black haired man in absolute fear, silent tears staining her pale cheeks. Clover and Lenn stared at their alpha knowing there was no way to stop a rampaging alpha who was beyond pissed.
“Shift.” Ezra commanded, his black eyes never shifting from the trembling men.
The two men stood and easily shifted into their wolves slightly larger than the average werewolf, staring up at their alpha, knowing this was him giving them a fighting chance while he drew closer in his half shifted form. Ezra growled, lunging at the wolves, easily taking one down with his teeth wrapping around his throat ripping the wolf’s jugular. The blood coated Ezra from the mouth down. Ezra swiped at the other wolf as he tried to launch a surprise attack. Ezra easily caught the wolf in midair, his claw gripping the wolf’s throat. He held up the dull brown wolf in air and used a single claw from his free arm and dragged it down the wolf’s stomach as the wolf whimpered.
“You should never have touched what was mine.” Ezra growled out, clenching his teeth as he pulled his free arm back and thrust it forward, his claw going through the wolf in one swift motion.
He pulled back his arm leaving a gaping hole in the body and let go with his other hand. The wolf dropped down to the ground with a sickening thud.
Ezra turned back to where he had left the woman, his eyes slowly shifting back to his gorgeous forest green.
A soft whimper came from the opposite corner causing all eyes to quickly shift to the source of the sound. Ezra’s hard gaze quickly softened as he saw the woman trembling. Her knees close to her chest as she held her balled up fists to her eyes, squeezing her once emotionless eyes shut. Ezra walked over to the dark haired woman. Once he was only a few steps away, she looked up not noticing the one sided fight was over. Her blue eyes widened in horror as she saw the 6’3 man walking to her, his body covered in blood, his muscular arms glistening from the liquid. Her eyes trailed up to his face. In any other situation Ember would have been drooling over the handsome man, his face chiseled like he was sculpted with the gods’ image in mind. His forest green eyes expressing sadness but at the same time happiness. Blood stained his mouth down the front of his shirt, his rugged beard drenched in the sticky liquid. His black hair had fallen in front of his face like he had just rolled out of bed but in actuality it was from the fight.
Ember choked back a sob as she tried to press her body into the wall, wanting to disappear.
Ezra stopped in his tracks, slightly confused. Why wasn’t she running into his arms? Why wasn’t she seeking comfort from him, but instead shrinking in fear? Ezra took a single step forward and heard her stifle a whimper, her eyes down casted.
“Ezra...” Lenn stepped behind Ezra, standing just an inch short. Lenn gently placed a hand on Ezra’s shoulder causing him to look back and see Lenn’s hazel eyes looking to him with sorrow as he shook his head softly. Lenn swiftly nodded back in the direction of Ember causing Ezra to turn back to his mate. Clover was kneeling down next to Ember whispering so softly that not even Ezra could hear with his enhanced hearing.
After a moment, Ember finally lifted her head and opened her eyes widely, staring at Clover. Ezra caught a glimpse of her eyes once more, the connection increasing with each second that passed. He could feel it, but could she?
Suddenly Ember lunged at Clover, wrapping her arms around the blonde woman’s thin neck, sobbing into the hollow of her neck. Ezra’s chest ached, he wanted so bad to be in Clover’s place, comforting his mate.
Clover’s rubbed soothing circles on the smaller female's back, offering her as much comfort as possible. Clover glanced at her mate and friend offering a soft sorrowful smile, not stopping the motion or the coos that came from her mouth. After 15 minutes, Ember’s cries slowed, her erratic breathing becoming more stable as she slipped into a deep slumber from the exhaustion and events that occurred.
“She’s passed out.” Clover whispered softly, looking down at the woman holding back her own tears.
Ezra walked forward and bent down about to pick her up. “Wait!” Clover yelled in a whispered tone causing a growl to vibrate through Ezra’s chest.
Clover’s hazel eyes glance down at her alpha’s bloody shirt and arms before looking into his eyes. Ezra’s eyes widen in realization, giving a soft nod before stepping back.
Lenn stepped towards his friend, placing a hand on his shoulder as a reassuring gesture. Ezra’s body relaxed slightly under his friend’s touch but his gaze never left the small body of his mate as Clover bent down, her arms under Ember’s knees and her head rolling back as she was lifted from the ground.
Ezra rushed to the women, gently moving her head to the side and resting it on Clover’s chest, a soft smile forming on Ember’s chapped lips at the touch. The small motion causing Ezra’s chest to swell, a smile of his own appearing on his face.
“Come, let’s place her in one of the guest rooms.” Lenn spoke softly, turning around to lead the way.
“f***k no, she will be staying in my room.” Ezra growled, his eyes flashing black at his best friend.
Lenn nodded, before turning back to the door and leading them out into the hall and up the stairs.
Clover followed behind her mate, Ezra keeping right next to her staring down at Ember. Clover’s heart warmed at the sight before, never expecting this situation to happen. The best she had wished for was for Ezra to finally grant her friend her long awaited freedom and her pup.
Her pup!
“What are you planning on doing with her…?” Clover whispered softly, knowing her alpha heard her.
“Protect her for the rest of my life, of course.” Ezra sounded confused, he stared at his close friend in confusion.
Will he still say that when he realizes that the pup that’s been in the care of Maria is actually Ember’s?
Clover nodded, following closely behind her mate.
