CHAPTER 7-THE AWAKENED

Next when he started to gain his consciousness, the sucker was already bit on his master, tengen. Keita was so furious as he couldn't accept the fact that his master was attacked by that sucker. Suddenly Keita's body changes while he’s shouting out loud. His eyes turn into yellowish “cat-eyes shaped” and his fangs become sharper and longer and also his both “elf-ears” look. Suddenly, he grabbed his “real-sword” that he had carried on his back all this time, and in a moment, he was already standing near the sucker with thrust toward. The sucker couldn’t react on time, but spontaneously the sucker raised her hand up to block the attack from keita. With that, the sword of keita already pierced through the sucker’s palm. Not yet finished, Keita immediately turns his sword in an upside-down position then slashing up harshly. In a moment, the sucker’s palm already rips apart. Then she quickly retreated from her position to step away from Keita at high speed. Not long after, the sucker disappeared from the forest. Keita was still angry as he wanted to avenge his master. But his master told him not to chase that sucker. Keita has no choice but to stay with his master.

Keita: “Sensei… hold on. I’ll take you to the physician…”

Tengen: “No… no need. I might not make it. Take this…”

Tengen took something out from his pocket. It’s a letter. His master asked him to take this letter to Yokohama and meet a reverend called “Oliver”, in a church. Tengen said maybe the reverend can help keita with his “problem”. For the record, this reverend Oliver was an old acquaintance of tengen which is the catholic reverend who also helped to purify the sword that was used by keita recently. Even though they’re both priests with different religions, but they’re known each other for many years when the catholic first time entered this country. Since then, they became friends and often exchanged the knowledge of both religions, to know deeper about each other's different religion and faith. However, after tengen adopted keita, he decided to move to Kyoto and since then they never met each other again. But once in a while, they will send each other letters to keep the communication going. Meanwhile, Keita couldn't hold his thirst for blood when he saw his master bleeding from his neck after a bite from that sucker earlier. The urge to drink the blood from his master is getting worse than ever. He tries to hold his thirst since he doesn’t want to hurt his master. So, he bites his own hand and drinks his own blood, to avoid himself drinking his master’s blood and runs away from there. The next day when he returned to the shrine, his master's funeral was held there. The people at the shrine found Tengen's body in the forest in the morning but he was no longer breathing. Then they held the funeral for him. Keita crying out loud in front of his master's funeral. He mourned for his master's death for a few days after the burial. Even his master told him to go to Yokohama but he still couldn't accept the fact that his master was killed by a sucker. He wanted revenge for his master before he left for Yokohama. Before tengen passed away, he also told Keita about his body. Since then, Keita realized that he was a “hybrid”, which is half human and half vampire. Slowly piece by piece of his childhood memory that faded away has come back, when he suddenly thirst for blood and his body started transforming, his master will bring him to the animal cage and let him feed on the animal blood. His master also told him not to mention to anyone about his “other-side” identity, because it will be very dangerous. However, some people at the shrine, especially the elders, already knew about Keita's condition when he arrived at the shrine 6 years ago. They even told his master to send Keita away, but Tengen refused. He believed he could raise the child to become a “complete-human”. Not only that, it was also his promise to his disciple junior, Naohiro, Keita's father. But the next day when he woke up, he would definitely not remember anything, and now he started to remember it, piece by piece. The few days when he still mourned his master's death, he was also thinking about a lot of things. About his parents, about his master, and even about himself. Now he has no other way but to believe himself that he was a “hybrid”. Even so, he still doesn’t know everything about the “vampire abilities” yet. The only one that he knew he could move from one location to another in just seconds, at high speed. And the other one, was his healing speed. However, he doesn’t know that “vampire abilities” weren't that only. There were some others that needed him to explore by himself. Since he knew he was a hybrid, he decided to use his other-side ability to hunt the suckers.
