Arrival

Chapter One Pamela removed her sunglasses to have a better view of her city, Brighton, a historic county of Sussex, in Southern England, the place she'd long forgotten about, as she came out of London Gatwick (LGW) Airport. She stood tall and straight as the memories she thought she'd long buried kept rushing back. A tear escaped her eye as she stood there with her eyes closed. The scars she'd struggled to stitch reopened again as fresh wounds. Pamela thought she'd pass the healing stage. Her emotions as she stood with her travelling bag in her hand brought reality into view. She thought she wouldn't feel anything. She thought it was the perfect time to come back to her home, but it turned out that she just wasn't ready yet. It's been six years since it happened, but all the bad memories she tried so hard to forget were still lying right in her head. It seemed as though everything happened yesterday. Every single one of the memories was still fresh in her head, mind, heart, and soul. Could she ever forget? She thought as fresh tears trickled down her cheeks. Her phone rang, jolting her back to reality. It was her mom. "Sweetheart, we've been waiting for you. Have you arrived? Where are you?" Her mother questioned, ecstasy evident in her voice. Her mother had always been very attached to her. She couldn't blame her for that. She'd always been a very clingy wife and mother. Pamela wiped her tears with the back of her hand and sniffed before answering her mother. "I have just arrived at the airport now, Mum. I know how much you've missed me and can't wait to see me. Be rest assured, I'll be home soon," Pamela said, trying as much as possible to sound normal. Her mother noticed that she sniffed because she asked, "Did you catch a cold? Are you fine? What happened to you?" Her mother asked again, concerned. "Mama, I'm alright. You have nothing to worry about," Pamela assured her. "You can't drive in that state. I'll send a driver to come to pick you up right now. Just stay where you are." "Mom, I assure you that I'm fine. I can find my way home all by my-" "You are not alright, Pam. The driver is coming right now. He'll be there as soon as possible. Just stay put." "But mom—" Pamela couldn't continue the conversation as her mother hung up the call abruptly. She was tired of her mother getting paranoid over every little thing. Her mama was just too extra for her. She'd nicknamed her "too much ado over everything" when she was growing up. Her mother had always been the kind that fusses about almost mundane things. She waited patiently for about fifty minutes for the driver to come to pick her up. She stood, holding her traveling bag's hand while her handbag was clutched to her other arm, her sunglasses were on her face. Pamela was already getting impatient. Just then, a 1963 Aston Martin DB5 Convertible pulled over in front of her. As the driver wound down the window of the car, she immediately asked. "Are you the driver sent by my Mrs. Fallon to come to pick me up?" She questioned, anger evident in her voice. "Ma'am—" "Do you know how long I've been waiting here? You stood me up for about an hour." She seethed, fuming with anger as she cut him short. "I—" "What are you even being paid for if you can't do this little task properly? I wonder why Mama even hired you in the first place." She said, still raging like the storm. "You know what? You're fired! But first things first, take me home and get this luggage in my hand." Pamela yelled, glaring at the man. He simply obeyed her and kept her luggage in the boot before going back to the car. She got into the car and relaxed at the back. In less than forty minutes, he came to a stop at a mansion in North Laine. Pamela's house was no house at all. In fact, it was a far cry from that. It looked like a castle for the ruler of kings. The gate was opened, and he was able to have access to the house because of the car. The perfect white color of the house made it very unique. Trees were planted in different parts of the house, which beautified the whole building. The floor looked like it was covered in a mass of blue ocean water. The tall mansion stood perfectly at the center of the house. On a closer look, one would find the swimming pool many meters away from the building. The swimming pool was decorated with very beautiful lighting that rested on the surface of the blue water. The windows were made of pure gold. The whole view was purely artistic. The house looked too beautiful to be real. "We are here, ma'am," he said in a deep voice as he stopped the car. He could hear her soft moans as she turned in the backseat, as though she was in her bedroom. He turned his head back to see her sleeping as soundly as a baby. The man simply shook his head, wondering how tired she would have been. He got down from the car and tapped on her shoulders. She, however, did not wake up. Having no other option, he carried her in his arms and walked towards the front entrance of the house. At the entrance, he met two men clad in suits who appeared to be bodyguards. "This is the Fallon's house, right?" The bodyguard on the left nodded, but not without questioning him. "Who are you?" "I do not think that would be necessary. This miss here mistook me for her driver. I had to drive her all the way here because she wouldn't even let me explain myself. She fell asleep while I was on the road, and here she is. I presume that she must be a Fallon." The stranger said, with his eyebrows raised. "I'd just confirm from within first." The second added. He placed a call through, and it was confirmed that Miss Fallon was coming. "You can have her." Pamela snuggled on his chest and kept her arms around his neck, her grip tight, making it difficult for the stranger to give her to the bodyguard. "Steve...don't leave me. Don't leave..."
