"No, my dearest daughter, I am alive and well, as you can see," he said with an evil grin.
"I saw it with my own eyes that day," as a flashback of that night came to my mind as Killian pulled me closer into a tight protective embrace.
"No, you see, dear, I pretended to be well. You screamed; it was hard not to laugh at how pathetic you were, well begging, like the weakling you are, and who this man might be standing next to you," he said slowly, stepping closer. I turned to Killian, my eyes full of fear as the memories of my life before Freya found me came crashing back, opening the mind-link so Killian could see everything, so he knew who this vile man was. As I was sharing my memories, Killian's eyes filled with hatred. In a second, Freya and Ian stood in front of us protectively. "You are not welcome here, Cedric; I don't know how you survived, but leave now before I kill you where you stand," Ian said with his alpha tone.
"I came to celebrate my dearest daughter's birthday. I am her father, after all, not you, Ian," he spat with hatred.
I stepped forward, full of rage and anger, looking at the man that caused me so much pain. "I am no longer that little fearful, powerless child you used to abuse; I hoped you died that day; you're a monster. Leave, or I will kill you myself. "I growled, letting my claws come out as a gold light started to surround me .gasps from the crowd filled the room as they tried to clue into what was going on here. Than. Turning to me, not knowing what to think, I looked at my hands. In shock, this had never happened before looking at Killian. He was just as shocked as I was about this glowing light. I quickly turned back to my father with all the hate and anger burning inside me, making the light glow brighter. "LEAVE CEDRIC. " Shock and fear filled his eyes.
"no...the power has been gone for hundreds of years " his eyes became angrier, and he leaped forward, trying to attack, coming towards me suddenly; my body moved without thinking like the power was controlling me. First, lifting my hand, freezing him mid-attack. Then, slowly raising my hand, he started to float in the air till I threw my hand to the side, throwing him in the same direction hard against the wall, before turning around and running out of the room, tears pouring down my face. In a second, I left the door opposite the room where that man now lay, not wanting to see what happened. Not to see his face for one more second, I ran, slamming open the door, jumping and shifting mid-air, jumping down the stairs, running as fast and as far as I could as flashbacks from my childhood came rushing back.
FLASHBACK
It's a dark, gloomy night. Looking through the bars on my window at the night sky, there were no stars, not even the moon visible, just a storm, as if the weather was showing my emotions. Any emotion I feel, the weather reflects if mother nature felt the same as me at any given moment. Suddenly, I was pulled from my thoughts as the front door slammed quickly. I was filled with fear and ran to my closet to hide, knowing that my father was home and angry at something and was coming to my room to take his anger out on me again. I sink to the bottom of the closet, hugging my knees to my chest, trying to calm my breath to hide, hoping that if he doesn't see me right away that he might leave me alone, at least for tonight, but as always, what little hope I have is gone when I hear my door unlock and slam open "where are you child " he says in an angry tone "you can't hide from me."
I hold my breath but as always. It was for nothing as I heard his footsteps coming closer to the closet till I saw the tips of his boots in the crack under the door. He slams it open. I was grabbing my arm, pulling me out of the closet, and throwing me on the floor in the middle of the room. "You freak. Look what you've done now, you disgusting child," he yells at me again like he always does. I don't know what he is mad at me for. I'm never allowed to leave this room, and I'm only allowed one meal a day. I am skin and bone; I don't know what I have done wrong, but I have learned that no matter what I do, he will always be mad at me and takes his anger on me. I swore never to cry in front of this man again. I never yell back other than trying to hide before he sees me when he gets home. I know I'm powerless, so I have learned that he will leave sooner if I don't put up a fight and give in. He will get bored of beating me and then leave. "I'm sorry," I say in a weak voice before he lays his first punch on my face, cracking my cheekbone. I don't cry, don't whimper. I stay silent; the beating goes on for an hour till I am nothing, just a broken girl lying in her blood on the floor. It usually only takes me a day to heal my physical wounds, but the mental ones will stay forever.
Why does he hate me, why does he not love me, what did I do wrong, and why doesn't mommy save me?
END OF FLASHBACK
as I run further into the forest, I am filled with more and more pain. I shift back into my human form, falling to my knees on the ground and crying when I need to scream my pain out, raising my head and looking at the sky.
"AAAAHHHHH," I screamed at the top of my lungs when a sudden energy burst out of me, the wind thrashing around me. "AHHHHHHH," I let out a final scream, opening my eyes and looking at the ground around me as another burst of energy shot through me, making the once-calm water turn into monstrous waves. Every tree around me within a 5-mile radius got pulled from the roots and thrown across the forest, making a circle of destruction around; then, suddenly, I got a wave of dizziness and fell to the ground as everything around me became black, slowly closing my eyes. I need to close my eyes and sleep for a minute. As I close my eyes, I suddenly feel like a weight is lifted off my shoulders. I feel stronger than I ever had before but tired; I feel arms wrapped around me, picking me up. "It's going to be okay, my love, " Killian said. Suddenly, I felt safe and let the darkness surround me.
