Chapter 8: Fatal Secrets

Alex's POV:
The poison was already working as she struggled to lift herself, making several failed attempts, her eyes filled with so much hope, locked unto mine
"Alex, please help me out, I feel really weak and dizzy." She pleaded as she reached out.
"You weren't supposed to leave so early Laura, that wasn't the original plan but you just got too nosy, you brought this upon yourself and I did like you a little," I replied meaning every word.
"Wh...a.t?" She stammered
I had to finish the job quickly before any of the maids walked in on us. I took out the dagger and stabbed her, the dagger most likely piercing through her heart.
She stared her me with tears in her eyes as she finally took her last breath after a brief struggle.
She brought this upon herself, if she had just remained the naive Luna who trusted me, she wouldn't have died now.
I quickly left the room after cleaning myself up, no one was aware of my early arrival at the pack's main house where we both lived with maids and guards; I had made sure of that. Swiftly as I came, I left the house like I was never even there.
" Are you sure she is dead?'' My fiance and the only woman I have ever loved asked me with so much curiosity in her eyes.
" Of course she is. I made sure of that before leaving the house, and don't worry, no one even knew that I was there. I would be the last person that they would suspect killed their Precious Luna." I assured her.
" That's perfect. Finally, our years of hard work and planning are paying off." She smiled.
She was right, this had taken so much effort and years of strategic thinking. The Luna was one hell of a smart lady but was too nice and naive to see this coming.
" It got exhausting playing the perfect husband and Alpha to her as my heart belongs to only you my love," I said to her as I kissed her passionately.
This woman had my heart, and I was willing to do anything to make her happy. She was my dream.
" Thank you so much, my love, I am so proud of you. Uncle would be so happy about this progress in our plan." She said as she kissed me with the same vigor.
Her hands ran through my hair as she kissed me, my body was addicted to her as it knew hers. I lifted her like she weighed nothing, and her legs instantly wrapped around my torso as I took her to the bedroom. I had missed the feeling of her body on mine, and she missed me too.
" Oh my love, I have missed you so much.'' I moaned as I felt her ample breast on my bare chest.
Only the feeling of her body on mine lit my body on fire and had my wolf yearning for our mate. She was my mate and I needed her. We made love all through the night as we celebrated our success in each other's arms.
The next morning, news had spread like wildfire throughout the pack that the Luna, their queen had been murdered. We knew that the pack would be aware of her death by the morning. The message had gotten to me through my Beta and I needed to be there.
Getting to the pack's main house, I saw the elder pack members, maids, and guards gathered at the front of the house. As I approached them trying to maintain a surprised expression I had on my face, I asked them what the matter was.
“ Alpha, we found the Luna this morning, she had been stabbed to death.’’ One of the guards explained.
“ What did you just say?’’. He asked
“ One of the maids said she had brought her dinner last night and the no response came from the room when she had knocked. She had thought the Luna had retired to bed without having dinner because did that most of the time. So she left without wanting to disturb her rest. She had returned this morning with her breakfast but still no response, she knew then that something was wrong because the Luna was an early riser, so she reached out to the guards who broke down the door and found her.’’ He further explained.
“ I left the house for the borders, leaving the pack's house with guards positioned to protect her and no one knew when she was killed in our room?! ‘’ I replied, yelling at them.
I broke down in front of them as I cried, trying to show them the pain they thought I would be going through. I needed to be the Alpha who loved his Luna.
“ You need to go see the Luna for one last time before she is taken away.’’ One of the elders said reminding me of the pack's custom.
The Alpha of the pack is always given a last moment to spend his Luna before she is buried especially if they were fated mates.
Lifting off from my seated position, I finally went ahead to see the body of the woman I had killed with my hand once more.
Her burial was finally fixed by the elders, it was to be held in the next 3 days.
As soon as came out of our room, one of the pack’s members who I had recognized as a guard who worked at the borders attacked me.
“ Are you not ashamed? You couldn't even protect Laura. You had one damned job, to protect her but you didn't.’’ He said as he gave me several punches to the face
“ How dare you accuse me of not protecting the love of life? And who are you to address the Luna by her name in front of your Alpha?’’ I asked with so much anger and surprise in my voice as I got a proper look at him.
Immediately, I recognized who he was, he was the fool who I caught bringing flowers to Luna while she was still mourning her parents. He came to visit her after their burial. After that day, I found out that he was the Late Alpha Beta's Son.
“Alpha?” He scoffed, “You don't deserve to be called that Alex, you were never an Alpha to the pack and a husband to Laura and you know this.” He said, confident in his accusations, surprising me with his outburst.
“ What disrespect! Take this Lunatic away and lock him up”. The chief elder commanded coming to my rescue.
