1. The Move
“Aunt Beth… I’m sorry, I don’t know where else I should go.” said the girl through a video call.
“Now, honey bunch, you just bring your butts here and don’t worry about anything, we’ll take care of you. Just tell us when you will arrive, Uncle George will pick you up” said Beth.
Gabrielle Johnson, or Elle for families and close friends, answered: “ No, Aunt Beth, I don’t want to impose, you and Uncle George already kind enough, and you’ve got the dinner to take care. I’ll just drive there.”
“Elle, it’s 4 hours' driving, why not go by plane and I’ll pick you up” said Uncle George.
“Uncle, it’s just 4 hours' driving, and I need that for a change. Also, you know me, I won’t leave my baby alone” she answered.
“That’s true. I forgot about that beast of yours” said Uncle George.
“Okay, be careful, honeybunch, we’ll be waiting. Just call if there’s difficulty along the way. Love you”. Said Aunt Beth
“I will, thank you so much, Aunt Bet, Uncle George, I love you both”. Said Elle, and she ended the call.
Elle, the curvaceous - redheaded beauty, looked at her small apartment. Her heart felt really heavy, sad, angry and humiliated.
“I just need to brace myself, pack these up and start over. You got this, girl. No more mopping and thinking about the asshole and the wicked witch”.
Elle started to pack up. It took her 5 hours to pack everything, at midnight, Then, she texted her aunt.
“I’m all packed, Aunt. Tomorrow early morning, I’ll start driving to Misty Lane.”
“ Okay honeybunch, get some sleep and we’ll see you tomorrow” – Aunt Beth
She smiled sadly, if only sleep could come easily.
At 4.00, having given up on trying to sleep, Elle decided to put all her packed stuffs to her car and start her journey. Looking on her small apartment for the last time
“All my life going down because of one stupid mistake…”
“Okay, Elle, no more mopping, let’s start over.” she tried to boost her own spirit.
After one hour of driving, she decided to look for some place to stop for a coffee.
Looking up on the g**gle maps, she saw there was a small café up ahead, only another 2 mil.
“ Yes, coffee, here I come.”
Only after another 1 hour going round and round, she still cannot find the café.
“Weird, did I just imagine the café in the maps or what?”
She looked around and found a gas station.
“I’ll just ask the way, seriously, why is it so hard to read maps?”
Entered the gas station, she asked a boy that handled the cashier.
“Excuse me, would you mind showing me, is there any nearby café or dinner in here?”
The cashier boy, look at her with wide eyes, a tiny beautiful woman with creamy skin, deep red hair being tied up in a haphazard bun and the most expressive violet eyes. “Y-yes, miss? May I help you?” the boy stammered shyly.
“ Ahem, I’m sorry, but it seems I got lost. The maps say there is a café nearby but I have been going round and round for about 1 hour, but I cannot find it. Would you mind giving me a clue?”
The boy saw the map being shown on the woman’s phone.
“ah I see, miss… There is a café nearby, you might want to go back for about 1 mil from here, and try to slow down a bit because the café is not on the main road. You have to turn left of this small road and you will find on the left.” the boy said while pointing to the maps on Elle’s phone.
“I see, thank you for the pointers. Oh and I would like to buy a gas. I still have long hours to drive and given my luck or should I say, my unfriendly relation with g**gle maps, I don’t know when I will find another gas station.” Elle smiled helplessly.
The boy just looked at the beautiful woman and suddenly he said, “ Miss, would you like me to help you find the café? You can follow me from behind.”
“Are you sure? I don’t want to impose and who will be the cashier?”
“ Nah, no problems, it will be for just about half an hour and usually there is almost nobody at this hour anyway”
“ Thank you so much, I really appreciate it.”
“ Let's go, miss. After you.”
They walked outside together.
“s**t…. Sorry, miss, is that your car?” the boy pointed to the powerful Yellow Chevy Camaro with large black stripe in the parking lot.
“it is…. Isn’t he a beauty?” Elle said proudly.
Then, the boy drove his motorcycle and Elle followed from behind.
