I watched the twins cuddle closer to Lilly. They lay in the middle of my husbands and mines bed. My husband had the kids laying between them, which is a cute site to see. I smiled. This has become routine for the last month. The twins are six months now. They love their sisters and their dads. Cooper and Hadrian often bring them into our rooms so that they may sleep with us. My boys love their cuddles. I always watch them before joining them myself. Sometimes it isn't till late, as I do love my reading.
My thoughts are interrupted by knocking at the door. It jerked Hadrian out of his sleep. He lifted his head in confusion. "Go back to sleep. I will get the door." I told him. He grumbled something and fell back to sleep. I smiled and then answered the door. Two guards stood there. "What can I do for you?"
"The queen gave us orders to tell you to meet her in the throne room right now." The guard said.
"Let me change and I will be there." I said. I closed the door before he said anything else. I quickly changed into black pants and a red shirt. I slipped on my boots and corset and set out to the throne room.
The guards opened the door to let me in. Tarrant, Alexis, and David stood off to the side in confusion. Miranda, Jared, and Stayne watched me like hawks. The trainees stood off the the side, glaring at me, except Jonah. He looked concerned. I now know that something is going to happen and it is against me. I stopped in front of the royals, joined by Alexis and David. The guards kept Tarrant from coming to me. He punched one in the nose and came to stand by Alexis.
"You better have a good reason for acting like I am a threat." I spoke calmly.
"How dare you act like you have done nothing wrong!" Miranda snarled. "Bring in the girl!" Two guards dragged in a girl. She glared at me in pure hatred. I raised a brow.
"Do you three know who she is?" I asked. I got a negative response. "Figured. I am being set up then." A dark look crossed each of their faces.
"She tried killing Jenna, claiming she was doing it on your orders!" Miranda snarled. "She had this knife." The guard standing next to Miranda showed me the knife. I approached and took a look. There is magic around the knife. Dangerous magic. There is poison on it too.
"Evie?" Alexis asked. I didn't answer. I turned to the girl, who seems to be about in her twenties. I approached her. "Be careful."
"Who do you work for?" I asked. She glared at me. "Tell me, do you work for Cacus?" I asked. She once again did not answer, but her eyes told me what I needed. "Cute. I think it is so funny how your kind seem think that you can get away with stuff." I grabbed her chin roughly. Her eyes filled with fear. "Continue to hold your tongue girl, because in the end, I am going to be the one to kill you." I hissed. Her eyes widen.
"Well?" Miranda snapped.
"A set up." I told her. I looked at her and her eyes widen. "If I had intended to kill Jenna, I would have done it with my own two hands. Never believe someone who claims that I am a murder. I suggest those who are weak in the stomach, leave the room." I ordered coldly. The trainees began to make their way to the doors. "Except you, trainees. You will have to do this yourself at some point." Everyone left the room.
"Evie, do you want to do this?" Tarrant asked. I looked at him. He gained a sad look. "I understand, Commander. A punishment fit for someone like her is death." He took a step back and then looked at the guards. "Stand back." He ordered.
I looked down at the girl. She looked up at me in fear. I grinned. I bent down to her level. "You see them over there?" I asked her, pointing to the trainees. I then pointed to Jenna. "You see her?" She nodded. "You see, when people try to hurt what is mine, I hurt them. The moment you tried to kill my sister, you signed your own death. Such a shame really. Darkness will not take over this world. Tell me, you look a lot like Cacus. Are you his daughter? Cousin perhaps?" She paled. "Interesting. I would let you live, but you have no heart. Say hello to the devil for me." She tried to talk around the cloth, but she wasn't able to. "Burn." I whispered.
Screams filled the hall as she began to burn from the inside out. I stood there and watched as blue and silver fire covered her body. "Evie, Evie, come back from wherever you are." David whispered as he put his hands on my shoulders. I blinked a few times to clear my mind. I then cringed at the smell of burning flesh.
"I lost control again. My apologies." I muttered. With a wave of my hand, the burning body disappeared. "I guess that could have gone worse."
"Yeah. You totally didn't just kill someone." Alexis chuckled. I grinned sheepishly. "Dude, your eyes turn red when you kill in cold blood, did you know that?"
"No, but thank you for that information. I will store it for later. In my defense, I don't feel all that bad about it." I said.
"Don't blame you." Tarrant said. "Although, I may have nightmares for a while. How do you do it?"
"I become someone else I guess." I answered. I turned and saw that the royals and trainees are staring at me with very large eyes and pale skin. "And that is what happens when you threaten the people I claim as mine."
"You, my friend, are scary." Jonah claimed.
