Chapter Ten

"I think I need to get the kettle on, come in and sit down guys," I say with wide eyes. As I turn around to head to the kitchen, Jacob kisses me sweetly on the forehead before taking a seat on the sofa. All three of them pile in and while Nathan and Matt take their seats Beth heads to the bedroom to change her clothes from last night. By the time the coffees are made and placed in front of everyone, Beth has returned and plonks herself down on Matt's lap, not that I think he minds. It's really sweet seeing them together. We all sit in silence staring at each other, not really knowing where or how to start this meeting. Jacob takes my hand in his and places a kiss on the back of my hand like an old school gentleman. "I'm Nathan by the way and I'm actually quite hurt that lover boy over there couldn't even be bothered to introduce us. It's not like we haven't known each other since the day we were born." Nathan said dramatically. "Hi Nathan, I'm Roxy. It's nice to meet you and thank you all very much for coming at such short notice. You have no idea how much this means to me." "Oh I know who you are hun, you were pretty much the talk of the pack when you arrived." "Oh, well that's actually why we asked you over. We need your help." "Oh my Goddess, you're not pregnant are you?!" Exclaimed Beth. "No, no, no, nothing like that at all. There's something you don't know, and Beth I'm apologising to you right now for what I'm about to tell you. You should've known from the start but we thought it best not to tell you for your own safety." I said, my voice full of contrition. "Ookkaayyy...." She replied. I looked one more time at Jacob who nodded at me in encouragement and with that, I began to tell them what really happened in Harmony and with the elders. Answering as many questions as I could, it kind of feels like I'm being stripped naked in front of them and baring my soul. I feel so guilty for not being honest, especially with Beth. About an hour or two went passed while explaining all of this and throughout it all, Beth hasn't said a word. "Beth, I'm so sorry. I wanted to tell you sooner but we didn't want to risk your safety. Your my best friend, my sister, I tell you everything and I promise you this was the only thing I have ever kept from you. I've felt so guilty in not telling you. Please forgive me." I say while tears started to fall down my face. Way to keep it together Rox, not. Beth stood up from Matt's lap and walked the short distance to where I was seated next to Jacob. I stood up ready to take the well deserved slap I felt was coming. I mean like, what kind of friend am I to keep things from my best friend? In stead of a slap though, I was greeted with a hug. Beth wrapped her arms around me and squeezed me so tight, it was a little difficult to breathe. "It's ok, you had your reasons. I'm just glad you were finally able to tell me everything. But if you ever keep something this big from me again, so help me, I'm going to cunt punch you so f*****g hard, you're great, great, great grandkids will still feel it." "Well that was pretty graffic, remind me not to be in the same room if that is ever likely to happen." Nathan said with his hands covering his face. We all looked at him and laughed. "So what's your plan? I am right in thinking you have one right?" Matt piped up. "Kind of? I thought we could start where it all happened. I haven't been back there since that day and I've been putting it off for so long, I feel like now is the time to do it. There might be clues as to why what happened, happened. And then I thought we could confront the Elves." "So basically what you're telling me is, this is what you want to happen but in reality, you have no f*****g clue what you're doing." Matt seems to be the voice of reason right now. "Babe, give her a break. This is hard on her, how would you feel if this happened to you and you lost everyone, including me?" Beth said, sitting back down on his lap, stroking his face lovingly. Leaning into her touch Matt spoke, "I'm not trying to be a d**k, I just mean we would need to plan this, right down to the last detail and then we would need extra plans in case things go pear shaped. We need to consider every possible detail. Like what if it's a trap and their just waiting for Roxy to turn up and then by that point anything could happen to her, she could be enslaved, killed or even worse, forced to marry someone she doesn't love because we all went in without a decent plan and what do think that will do to Jacob? We need to be smart here sweetheart." "He has a point..." Nathan said slowly. "But if he puts his d**k under the waistband of his pants, no one will notice teehee." "Seriously? You're making jokes now?" "Yes, while you do have a very good point, no pun intended, you guys need to lighten up a little. We have to leave camp very soon and you guys are being such Debbie Downers. It might be a wise idea to speak with the Alpha when we get back and see if he has any input. At the end of the day, he has had more battles and won them than we've all had hot dinners. He's a well seasoned veteran who could have a very valuable input which would give us more of an advantage and hopefully get us killed less." Nathan replied. "Right, that's settled then, girls pack your stuff up, we're leaving in the next hour. We'll be back to pick you up and take you home. While you're talking with your family about what a great time you had at camp, I'll speak with my father and see if he will help us. But I don't think it would be wise to tell anyone else about our plans. There are always spies somewhere and with something as delicate as this, we only have the one chance and I'm going to make sure we all get out of this alive and in one piece." Jacob stood and brought me up with him. He wrapped his arms around me and sniffed my hair, breathing in my scent, while I snuggled into his chest, "I'll see you soon. Pack some food as well, just incase you get hungry. I need you to stay strong for this." I nod and we share a quick kiss. Even the little kisses make my head spin and my legs go weak. You can hear Beth and Matt making out on the couch which I think is their way of saying see you shortly. "Ok guys, starting to feel like a third wheel here." We break away from each other with a blush growing on face. Beth and Matt groan in annoyance of being interrupted what I'm quite sure was going to be a great make out session for them, but Nathan's right. We have things to do and not that much time to do it. I'm getting a bad feeling about this already. The guys then leave and we head to our bedroom to pack.
