Chapter 1: The Man Everyone Fears
The city never slept.
Even after midnight, the streets of Rome remained alive with the glow of expensive buildings, the sound of passing cars, and the whispers of people who knew that beneath the beauty of the city existed a darker world.
A world ruled by power.
A world ruled by fear.
A world ruled by one name.
Alessandro De Luca.
People didn't say his name loudly.
They whispered it.
Some called him a businessman. Others called him a monster.
But everyone knew one thing...
No one crossed Alessandro De Luca and walked away unchanged.
The De Luca mansion stood on a hill overlooking the city. It was enormous, surrounded by tall gates and guarded by men who watched every movement around the property.
Inside, everything was silent.
Too silent.
A long hallway led to a private office where a man stood near the window, looking down at the city below.
Alessandro De Luca.
At twenty-nine years old, he had built an empire most people could only dream of. His companies were known worldwide, but the truth behind his success was something only a few people knew.
He wasn't just a businessman.
He was the man everyone feared.
Dressed in a perfectly fitted black suit, Alessandro held a glass of water in his hand while reading a report placed on his desk.
His expression didn't change.
Nothing ever did.
A knock interrupted the silence.
"Come in."
The door opened, and Marco Rossi entered.
"Boss."
Alessandro didn't turn around.
"What happened?"
Marco placed a file on the desk.
"There has been movement from the Moretti family."
Alessandro's eyes narrowed slightly.
"Damian?"
Marco nodded.
"He is making plans. We don't know what yet, but he is watching us."
A cold smile appeared on Alessandro's face.
"Let him watch."
Marco stayed quiet.
He knew that expression.
It meant Alessandro was already planning his next move.
"Anything else?" Alessandro asked.
"There is one more thing."
Marco hesitated.
Alessandro looked at him.
"Speak."
"A meeting happened tonight. Someone may have seen it."
The room became silent.
Alessandro slowly placed the glass down.
"Who?"
"We are still finding out."
Alessandro walked back toward his desk.
"Find them."
Marco nodded.
"And if we do?"
Alessandro looked out at the city.
"Then I decide what happens next."
.
.
.
Meanwhile, on the other side of the city, someone had no idea that her life was about to change.
Aria Romano.
Aria sat by her bedroom window, writing in her notebook while the rain tapped softly against the glass.
Writing had always been her escape.
Whenever life became complicated, she created another world with her words.
A world where people weren't judged by their past.
A world where everyone had a chance.
She smiled as she finished the last sentence on the page.
"Finally..."
Her phone buzzed.
It was a message from her sister, Sofia.
Sofia: Don't forget dinner tomorrow. Mom will be angry if you disappear again.
Aria laughed.
Aria: I won't forget. I promise.
She placed her phone aside and looked outside.
The city looked peaceful.
But she didn't know that behind that peaceful night was a secret that would pull her into a dangerous world.
The next evening, Aria left her part-time job at the bookstore later than usual.
The rain had started again.
She sighed when she realized she had forgotten her umbrella.
"Seriously, Aria?"
She shook her head and started walking.
The streets were quieter than normal.
Most shops were closed.
The sound of her footsteps echoed against the pavement.
Then...
A black SUV stopped nearby.
Aria slowed down.
Something about the vehicle made her uneasy.
The doors opened.
Several men stepped out.
They were dressed in black.
She quickly moved behind a wall, unsure why she was hiding.
Maybe it was just curiosity.
Maybe it was instinct.
Then she saw him.
A tall man stepped out of the vehicle.
The others immediately moved aside.
Even from a distance, Aria could tell he was different.
Powerful.
Cold.
Dangerous.
The man received an envelope from someone standing in front of him.
"This is your final warning," he said calmly.
His voice was deep and emotionless.
Aria held her breath.
She didn't know who he was.
She didn't know what was happening.
But she knew she shouldn't be there.
She slowly stepped back.
Then-
Crack.
A small branch broke beneath her foot.
Everyone turned.
Her heart stopped.
One of the men looked toward her hiding place.
"Someone is there."
Panic rushed through her.
She turned and ran.
Behind her, footsteps followed.
"Stop!"
She didn't.
She ran until she reached a dead end.
Her breathing became heavy as she looked around.
No way out.
Then she heard footsteps approaching.
Slow.
Calm.
Controlled.
The mysterious man appeared from the darkness.
The rain fell between them.
For the first time, Aria saw his face clearly.
Sharp features.
Cold eyes.
A look that made the entire world seem to freeze.
Alessandro De Luca.
He studied her silently.
"You saw something you shouldn't have."
Aria swallowed.
"I don't know what you're talking about."
His expression remained unreadable.
Everyone else feared him.
But she was standing there, looking directly into his eyes.
Interesting.
"Who are you?" he asked.
"Aria."
A moment passed.
"Aria Romano."
The moment he heard her last name, his expression changed slightly.
Romano.
A name connected to an old history.
A history he knew too well.
Marco stepped forward.
"Boss..."
Alessandro continued staring at her.
For the first time in years, something unexpected happened.
He was curious.
"Find out everything about her."
Aria's eyes widened.
"What?"
But before she could ask anything else, Alessandro turned away.
The cars disappeared into the rainy night.
Leaving Aria standing there with one terrifying realization.
She had just entered a world she could never easily escape.
And Alessandro De Luca had just found the one person who could change everything.
To be continued...
