Plane Ride

“This time you need to make certain that you concentrate on where you are going don’t think about anything except following me, that’s all I want you to think about,” Eon ordered grabbing Emily’s bags. “Hang on,” Jack said. “Where are you taking her. “Somewhere she will be safe and she can learn,” Eon replied in his nonchalant voice. He grabbed my bags and said “It’s time to go or we will miss our plane,” “Our plane? I thought we were just going to teleport there,” Emily questioned. Stifling a giggle at the thought of her extremely powerful bio- father on a plane. “Yes a plane, you just got your powers thanks to your mother putting a binding spell on you, which means you are not strong enough to teleport to where we are going,” He explained. Emily noticed that he sounded a little upset when he was explaining to her about her mother binding her powers. Did he actually have another mood to him besides serious? And when was he going to tell her about her bio- mother? Maybe she will ask when they get to where they are going she contemplated. “Emily concentrate,” Eon ordered harshly as if he could tell what she was thinking about. “I’ve never even been out of the country,” Emily said. “I know,” Eon answered,  as he closed his eyes. She wondered what else he knew about her life. Did he know she and Jack have pizza and movie night once a week? That preferred pants and shorts over dresses? Eon opened his eyes looking at her a little bit irritated. “Sorry,” She apologized biting her bottom lip. Closing her eyes and concentrating on following her bio-fathers ora she made her way through the swirling colors of light. Eon’s ora stopped moving until Emily’s caught up to his. Then he knocked her hard to the right. Emily opened up her eyes, feeling irritated and sore at what he had done. After catching her bearings, she realized she was in a bathroom stall. She slowly opened the door, peeking out slowly noticing how big the bathroom was. Emily saw other women washing their hands so she decided to do the same. Plus, she didn’t want them to think she was nasty. Walking out of the bathroom, she noticed that she was at the airport. Eon was sitting on one of the benches straight as a pencil waiting on her. “That hurt,” She growled at him. “That wasn’t my intention. I didn’t want you to miss that spot to stop,” He somewhat apologized. “When did you buy these tickets?” Emily asked suddenly as they walked to their gate. Eon doesn’t answer. “I only agreed to come with you a few hours ago, but you already had us on the next flight out of town,” “I booked tickets on every flight since yesterday,” Eon finally responded, as though that isn’t a strange—and extravagant—way to make travel plans. “I wanted to be ready to go as soon as you agreed,”  “Oh,” She doesn’t ask what he would have done if she didn’t agree to go with him. As they stood in line to board, she noticed something, someone, strange in the terminal. There is a man looking at her, even as he walked right past them to an adjacent gate where another flight was boarding sending chills up her spine. Not just looking—he was staring. Almost like he knew her. But his face wasn’t friendly like maybe he was trying to figure out why she looked so familiar. He’s wearing a dark black suit with a red tie and a fedora-looking hat with red around the middle, like someone out of a movie set in the 1960s. But that’s not the weirdest thing about him; there seems to be a sort of . . . darkness to him like hate and anger was emanating from him “Did you see that man?” She asked Aidan, but he’s already walking down the ramp to board the plane. She turned back toward the mysterious man, but before she could make eye contact, he walked down the ramp and out of sight. We’re sitting in first class. Enormous pillows and soft blankets wait on our seats, and as soon as we sit down, a flight attendant is asking for our drink order. Emily asked for sugar-free Sprite, unlike Eon, who said, “Just water for me, thank you,” “Isn’t that the whole point of sitting in first class? So you can have whatever you want, whenever you want it?” “I just like to be near the front of the plane so I’m the first to get on and the first to disembark.” It sounded like a total waste to Emily, but it didn’t look like Eon is about to ask. Emily settled into her window seat, shoved her backpack beneath the seat in front of her, and watched the rest of the passengers board the plane. She couldn’t help but notice that most of them looked a lot more festive than she did. They’re headed somewhere for the holidays, to their family’s homes for some holiday cheer. I’m pretty sure we’re the only two people here who aren’t about to go on vacation. Surely he won’t be making train twenty-four hours a day, right? Maybe I’ll have time to video chat with Jack or maybe if I get strong enough teleport to see him. Or maybe Jack could come close by to where I’ll be training and I could teleport to him during the night. “Where exactly are we going?” She asked Eon as the plane ascends.
