"Before I answer that you must understand that you are much more than just a medium some might say we're not really human because we can't be killed by human weapons we don't get sick," Eon started. "Your mother was human, but she had special powers human's called her a witch she was powerful. She could heal a human and she could kill one just as easily,"
"What does that make me,"
"You are half me and half of your mother, I'm what humans call an alien only I am from this earth, I've just been alive for many centuries,"
"Hang on your saying that my wife is half-alien half-human, like some kind of weird hybrid," Jack inquired.
Eon turned to look at my husband and said "Yes," without even blinking an eye. "Only you are a powerful hybrid. I just like your mother has certain gifts so it's only logical that you have them as well," He explained as he turned his attention back to Emily.
"Listen here I have a mother and a father so don't call the woman who gave birth to me, my mother, and you are not my father you're just the sperm donor," Emily fumed. "Now please leave,"
She stood up and stormed off to her bedroom, slamming the door behind her. Eon just stayed where he was not moving, not making any effort to leave. "My wife your daughter just told you to leave," Jack relayed making sure that the strange man had heard his daughter's orders.
"Just wait a minute," Eon declared holding up a long slender finger. Just as Emily flew back into the living room. "You said I'm not just a medium, then tell me what else I am,"
"You are many things we know you're a medium and that you can exorcise demons, but I want to find out what else you can do. I will be here to pick you up at five in the morning to start your training,"
"Your joking five in the morning, why not, let's say nine or ten in the morning,"
"I'll be here to pick you up at five in the morning," He ordered he then just disappeared into thin air.
Emily stood where she was in complete awe "I hope he teaches me how to do that,"
"How do you know that he really is your birth father? I mean he didn't even answer any of my questions, let alone acknowledged that I was even there," Jack fumed. "Trust me, I'm certain he is my biological father he hasn't changed since I was a baby,"
"You mean to tell me that you remember what your biological parents look like when you were a baby,"
"Yes, I do, I used to look for them when I was little when mom and I would go out shopping but after a while, I gave up,"
Eon is waiting in the house when Jack and Emily woke up the next morning, wearing yet another perfectly pressed suit. This one is slate gray, with a pale blue tie secured tightly around his neck. She wondered if he even owned a pair of jeans. Emily had on a pair of workout leggings with a top to match and a jacket as she closed the bedroom door behind her. She wondered if he thought that Jack was a slob because he’s still wearing the shorts that he was wearing when he had met him yesterday. It didn't matter to her what he actually thought she was up dressed and ready for her first day of training after she had some coffee inside of her first of course.
"Goodmorning, "Jack mumbled yawning not realizing that Eon had entered his home. "Are you going to show me how to do that,"
"You should already be able to appear and disappear,"
"Um sorry, I don't,"
"Close your eyes concentrate feel the vibrations all around you then think of where you want to go,"
In an instant, Emily had disappeared out of the living room. "Crash" Jack dropped his coffee cup pieces shattered all over the kitchen floor. "Where did she go," Jack asked in shock. Then within the same instant, she reappeared sitting beside Eon holding a box of doughnuts. "Anyone want some," She smiled holding the box out. "Where did you go," Jack questioned her. "I was hungry for a doughnut so I appeared in the bathroom at the doughnut shop, then came back here,"
"Call that your first lesson," Eon said taking a doughnut from the box. "It's time to go and start your training, are your bags packed,"
"Wait we're not going to like a park or gym to train,"
"No did I not mention that,"
"No you left that little piece of information out, Jack go get your things packed,"
“Jack isn’t coming,” Aidan declared.
“What do you mean he isn’t coming?” Emily echoed, ignoring Jack's voice behind me. “He’s my husband! How do you expect me to concentrate without him?”
“Your training doesn’t require him. And you know by now a husband's role isn’t to take care of you. He is to work to support you by being paid paper for doing useless tasks.”
Jack stroked Emily's hair, frizzed from the Oklahoma humidity. Maybe wherever Eon is taking her there will be none so that her hair will actually behave. Not that she knows where he’s taking her. He just said that it would be warm.
She leaned down and kissed Snowy on top of her soft little apple head, sending her tail-wagging speed into overdrive.
Eon stepped onto the front porch. “Take care of our girl,” Jack's voice is stern as he faced him. He turned back to Emily, twisting her curls around his fingers. We’ve never been apart even when I drove semi's you always went with me, promise me that you will call me every day,"
His voice breaks on the last word and then he swallowed. She knew he was tried so hard to be strong for her, not to let on that he was scared—both to let her go and of what might happen to her if she stayed behind. She knew because she was scared of the exact same things.
She had no idea how to say goodbye to him. He pulled her into his arms again and whispered, “You can come home anytime you want to. Just say the word, and I’ll come to rescue you.” She nodded into his hair. She knew that if she opened her mouth to speak, she would start to cry.
