A full night and day pass when Father Mike announces “Finally the ghost you know as Andrew Hughes is gone,” Steve comes and wakes me up as I had fallen asleep on the pew that I hadn’t left since the exorcism had started. “We knew the ghost was gone from Jack's body when he started vomiting black sludge,” He was saying when Father Mike was approaching us with Jack still weak walking beside him. I run up to him whose eyes were a brighter blue than they ever were and wrapped my arms around him. At the same time, I look over at Father Mike who is standing off to the side of us with a big smile on his face looking very satisfied with himself. “So, he’s okay,” I asked with tears streaming down my face. “He is a little weak which is normal for someone who has gone through what he has been, but yes he is okay, the ghost you call Alexander Hughes isn’t possessing him anymore,” Father Mike declared. It seemed that Jack was back to himself at least for a month before I even realized that something was off with him. Then one day when I was in the kitchen starting to make supper, Jack comes into the kitchen wanting to help me. “Hey, babe can I help you with anything,” He asks me sweetly. When I look up to answer him his eyes were glowing bright red. “Um, yeah sure,” I stammered. “You can chop the potatoes, carrots, and celery for me,” While I got him busy chopping, I announce “Excuse me for a moment I got to run to the bathroom,” Thankfully I had put my phone in my pants pocket when I had finished talking to a friend of mine. I get into the bathroom I pull my phone out of my pocket and send a message to Cady. “Cady the exorcism was not successful,” I type. I was happy when I got a fast response from her. “What do you mean not successful? What’s happened,” She sent it back. “His eyes are red again,” I replied. I realized that I have been in the bathroom a little too long so I turn my phone off and exit the room. As I am walking out, I run into Jack who was coming around the corner. “Umph,” I said startled as I run into him not watching where I was going. “Emily are you okay,” He said catching me by the arm as I go backward. “Yeah, I’m okay you just surprised me I wasn’t expecting you there.” I laugh nervously. “I’m sorry babe, I was just coming to check on you,” He chuckled. “Oh, that’s sweet but I’m okay, come on let’s go finish making supper,” I suggest nudging him ahead of me. Except when we get back into the kitchen he had already finished everything along with setting the table. “Oh, wow this is pretty, you have gone all out,” I exclaimed. “Only the best for my wife,” Jack said with a bow. I actually feel my face turn red from the heartfelt sentiment. I know he is still possessed, but I do enjoy being treated like a queen every once in a while. “What harm would it actually cause if I didn’t try to get Alexander Hughes out of my husband,” I mumble to myself while Jack was in the kitchen getting the desert. “What did you say, babe,” He asked carrying two bowls over to the table. “I was just saying how good dinner was,” I half lied. He did make a great meal for us and then made homemade peach cobbler for dessert. I am torn between leaving my husband possessed or trying another exorcism to get Alexander Hughes out of Jack. When I turned my phone back on, I see that Cady had texted me back. “We will be there first thing in the morning,” I let out a sigh of relief that help is only hours away I just have to make it until they get here. Granted it’s not like it’s been bad having him possessed, he cleans, cooks, it’s like having the perfect husband whose eyes glow red every once in a while. "Emily can you come here I want to show you something,” Jack yelled from the bedroom. “Oh no,” I whispered myself praying at the same time that he didn’t find out about the missing screen from the window above the bed. When I entered the room, I find Jack stark n***d laying on the bed. “Um, what’s going on here,” I ask blushing. I now realize that it’s definitely not my husband laying on the bed but Alexander Hughes using my husband’s body as a meat suit. “I thought we could play around since we’re all alone,” He crooned as he winks at me. “I’m not really in the mood right now,”
“Oh okay,”
“And since you made us a great meal, I’ll do the cleanup,”
“How about I help you, besides I think I used every pan in the kitchen,”
“Yeah okay, you wash and I’ll dry,”
“Deal,” Jack laughed as he tossed me a hand towel. I woke up to knocking on the front door. I look out the window to see Cady and Steve on the front porch. I look over at my possessed husband still sleeping soundly before I quietly slip out of bed. “Hi thank you for coming,” I whisper as I have them follow me to the side of the house so we wouldn’t wake Jack up. “No problem,” Steve says. “So, Cady says that you believe that your husband is still possessed even after the exorcism is that right,”
“Yes, that’s right, I just noticed it yesterday when his eyes had turned red,”
“Maybe the ghost did leave him, but reentered him so it could be close to you,”
“I don’t care how or why this ghost is possessing my husband I just want my husband back,” Cady comes over to me and puts her arm around me, and says. “We know and we will figure it out, along with why the exorcism didn’t work,”
“Thank you,” I blubber.
“We’re going to go and get started, I’ll call you when we need you, also call if you need us okay,”
“Okay, I will.” They leave and I head back inside where thankfully Jack was still asleep. I make some coffee and breakfast. I needed to keep my strength up for what was about to happen.
