Chapter 3 - Alpha Raiden

••• Isabella’s POV ••• The he-wolf in front of me was huge and tall. Way taller than my 155cm frame. He had broad shoulders, and I could see his muscular pecs through his super-tight white T-shirt. His biceps were bulging from the short sleeves, and even his forearms were sexy with lots of veins. My eyes traveled downward, seeing his slim waist and long legs. When my gaze landed on the bulge in his pants, I snapped my gaze back to his face, seeing the amusement in his eyes. Oh Goddess, he had caught me checking him out! I knew my whole face must be as red as a boiled lobster right now! “Aww, baby, you can check me out, I don’t mind it.” The he-wolf spread his arms and winked at me, knowing how attractive he was. Goddess, even though his words were teasing, the deep timber in his voice still sent shivers down my spine - in a good way. And unfortunately, I couldn’t let my gaze stray away from his face. He had nice black hair that was perfectly styled - the sides were gelled back, the top was also gelled, but it was a bit messy, and the style worked for his handsome face. Thick brows and eyelashes that made me so jealous because of how long they were; it looked like he was wearing mascara. Gorgeous dark brown eyes that looked nearly black. Straight nose, full lips with a cupid bow on the upper lip. Straight, pearly white teeth. High cheekbones and those jawlines… I was sure they could cut through glass as they were so sharp. Okay, I was getting ahead of myself because no facial features could cut glass, but hey, you got what I meant. This he-wolf was just so perfectly handsome. And his teasing smile only made him more attractive because it made him look more playful, more approachable. “Isabella, the Omega will-” We both turned toward my mom to see her eyes widen slightly. “Alpha, I didn’t know you’d arrived,” my mom greeted the Alpha quickly with respect. “I hope my daughter didn’t cause you any trouble.” I rolled my eyes inwardly. Seriously, my mom was the one who was embarrassing us. How could I cause trouble when we have only met for like, what, five minutes? The Alpha raised his eyebrows. “Your daughter?” “Yes,” my mom answered. “This is Isabella. Bella, greet the Alpha, Alpha Raiden.” Alpha Raiden held out his hand, and I shoved my hand into his. “Isabella.” “Raiden,” he drawled, then kissed the back of my hand. “Charmed.” Oh my… I would've swooned if I didn’t hate Alphas or if I were one of those she-wolves who wanted to marry above their ranks. He released my hand and pocketed it in his pants’ pocket. “So, Bella, what are you doing here?” “Just wanna have more experiences before going to college.” I shrugged. Of course, I wouldn’t tell him the truth of how I was nearly assaulted and had to seek refuge here. Now it was his turn to check me out. His gaze roved slowly from my hair to my toes, back to my hair again, before landing on my eyes. It somehow made me want to squirm, because I was wearing shorts and tank tops, but I tried to look calm and unaffected. “Experience, you said?” Alpha Raiden rubbed his jaw as if thinking of something. “Yeah…” I replied slowly, my eyes began narrowing because the way he asked that question sounded ominous. “Does it include looking for a job?” he asked. At the mention of a job, my eyes lit up. A job from an Alpha would give me a high salary, wouldn’t it? “You have a job for me?” I asked, and hope and anticipation bloomed in my heart. “Hmm… I have a bar and nightclub needing strippers-” Before he could finish his words, my hand flew upward and landed on his cheek. I put all my strength into that slap, even my palm stung from it. “Oh Goddess, Isabella!” my mom shrieked. “What did you do? He is an Alpha! You can’t just slap him!” Alpha Raiden rubbed his cheek as he looked at me, but I wasn’t afraid of him. I didn’t know why, but I was never scared of Alphas. Maybe because their Alpha auras had never had any effect on me. “If he thinks he can disrespect women by offering us a job as strippers, then he should have expected to be slapped,” I snarled. This… This was why I hated Alphas. They were just so arrogant, thinking everyone should obey them. Alpha Raiden was wrong if he thought I was some weak-ass she-wolf who would submit to everything he said, and be grateful to be offered a job like that. “I’m so sorry, Alpha. My daughter comes from a small and remote pack, so she doesn’t know any etiquette or manners for acting around an Alpha,” my mom kept apologizing. I gaped at my mom. Excuse me, I knew Alpha Raiden was an Alpha, but what he said was too much! Shouldn’t she try to take my side since she was a former Luna of the pack? Surely she had some say on lots of matters. But why was she acting like she was an Omega? “Mom, he offered me a job as a stripper,” I emphasized. I was so irritated by my mom. “Did you forget I’m still underage? And it’s not like I’m going to take a job where I need to take off my clothes and seduce men in a club.” “Don’t say anything anymore,” my mom grabbed my wrist and hissed. “Just apologize already.” “I won’t.” I yanked back my wrist and folded my arms under my breasts, glaring at the Alpha who was still rubbing his cheek. What a drama queen, I thought. Even my palm didn’t sting anymore, and he acted like his cheek still hurt. “You know lots of women would be grateful for the job,” he said, his tone flat. “Yeah? Well, you can go find them then,” I spat, then raised an eyebrow in a challenge. “What makes you think the daughter of an Alpha would want to be a stripper?” He scrutinized me, and I kept my eyebrow raised. If he wanted to punish me, the most he could do was ask me to leave. He couldn’t banish me since I wasn’t a member of his pack. And his Alpha aura wouldn’t work on me anyway, so I wasn’t afraid of him. He opened his mouth, but instead of getting angry or telling me to get lost, he threw back his head and laughed out loud, shocking me and my mom, too, I was sure. I couldn’t help but gape at him. Was there a loose screw in his brain? I slapped him, challenged him, basically insulted him, and he laughed instead of punishing me? Not that I wanted to be punished, but… He laughed until he had tears in his beautiful eyes. Once he was done laughing, he wiped his eyes with the back of his hand. “f**k, no one has ever challenged me like you do.” He burst into another round of laughter, shorter this time. “I like you, baby. Hopefully we’ll see each other often.” He winked, then turned to leave. My mom and I looked at his retreating back until I felt a pinch in my arm. “Seriously?” I glared at her. “I’ve told you to mind your manners, and yet you’ve insulted an Alpha, not even an hour after you settled here,” she scowled. “You do realize I’m your daughter?” I pointed out. “You should be defending me instead of apologizing to him.” I scowled back at her. “I never knew a mother who would willingly ask their underage daughter to work as a stripper just because an Alpha said so.” “Go back to your room,” she commanded. “I’ll ask the Omega to bring your meal to you.” I rolled my eyes at her and listened to her anyway. It wasn’t because I was afraid of her or anything, but because I was too lazy to argue with her. Not five minutes later, a knock sounded, and I opened the door, letting the Omega set the food on the coffee table. I wolfed down the meal and finished it in no time while thinking about what to do while waiting for my enrollment. All my jobs were located near the Grey Dusk Pack, which was too far away from here. The only way to make money now was to find new jobs again. Sighing, I wondered if I could go out and return to the pack at any time I liked, or if they had something like a curfew that would stop people from coming and going after certain times. I sure hoped not. Maybe I should also buy a new, more modern phone that could connect to the internet, making it easier for me to search for jobs online. Last time I didn’t need it, but I would definitely need a modern mobile phone in a city as big as this. I sighed again and looked at the empty plates on the table. I wasn’t used to having dirty dishes in my room, so I guess I'd better bring them to the kitchen. After stacking them on the tray, I carefully made my way to the kitchen. I wouldn’t want to break any of the plates or even drop the tray because I was sure they were expensive as heck, and if I broke any of them, Mom would ask me to pay for them. As I placed the dirty dishes in the sink, I heard a deep, husky voice coming from behind me. “Hello?”
