Kira’s pov: “Jesus Kira! How can you not know who Ryan Kings is, where have you been living?, under the rocks?” She teased. “He’s the most eligible bachelor in the city!” She turned to me, her voice low and conspiratorial. “He's a billionaire, Kira. And not just any billionaire, but the CEO of Kings Enterprises. He's got power, money, and a face that could launch a thousand ships.” I raised an eyebrow, intrigued by myself. “And you're a fan?” Mia nodded, her eyes still fixed on Ryan. “Who isn't? He's the whole package, Kira. And tonight, he's definitely looking like a million bucks.” I followed her gaze, taking in the sight of Ryan Kings. He was indeed a handsome man, with piercing blue eyes and chiseled features that seemed to have been carved from granite. Just then, his face turns towards my direction, and we lock eyes for a split second. I turned away instantly, my cheeks burning hot. I feel a shiver run down my spine, and my heart begins to race. Mia looks at me, then back at him, “what just,” she looks back at me, “did he just?…” Mia stuttered, her eyes sparkling with excitement. “OMG! Kira, I think you just caught the eye of the most eligible bachelor in the city.” She giggled, nudging me playfully. “You’re blushing.” I felt my cheeks grow even hotter as I tried to brush it off. “Will you calm down Mia, it was just a second coincidence, stop reading meanings into it.” I muttered, trying to focus on my drink instead. Mia raised an eyebrow. “Yea right.” She took a sip of her champagne. “ Someone’s about to get laid…” she whispered. “Jeez! Mia!” I exclaimed, playfully rolling my eyes. "You're so bad!" But inside, I couldn't help but feel a flutter in my chest. Ryan Kings was still looking at me, his piercing eyes seeming to bore into my soul. I tried to shake off the feeling, telling myself it was just my imagination. But Mia's words kept echoing in my mind: “Someone's about to get laid...” I felt a shiver run down my spine as I wondered if she might be right. “Hey guys!” Gina shouted, coming towards us, interrupting my thoughts. She hugs me first casually before giving Mia a bear hug and taking a sip of her glass. “Did you see who just walked in?” She asked, her excitement matching Mia’s. “No one missed it.” Mia responded, narrowing her eyes at me. “Gosh!” Gina fanned herself dramatically, “He’s so freaking hot! Way hotter in person!” “Right!” They both chorused in unison, giggling like school girls. I couldn’t help but laugh at their antics. “You’re married, Gina,” I said, laughing. “Girl please,” she waved me off, taking a sip of Mia’s glass again. “You guys are something else,” I teased, shaking my head. We all turned to look at Ryan Kings again, our eyes following him - as well as a thousand other eyes - as he made his way to the VIP lounge. “I guess really, one person can’t have it all,” Gina said. He turned back to normal. “What do you mean?” I turned to look at her. But Mia replied instead. “Rumors have it that he’s difficult to work with, he’s a total control freak and his expectations are always sky-high,” Mia said, her voice low and conspiratorial. “Plus, he's never been in a relationship that's lasted more than a few months. He's got a reputation for being a total player.” Gina nodded in agreement, her eyes still fixed on Ryan's retreating figure. "Yeah, I've heard that too. He's got a lot of baggage, if you know what I mean.” I listened to their gossip, my curiosity piqued. Who was this enigmatic billionaire, really? Was he as elusive and unattainable as he seemed? And why did I care so much? Just then, Bob, Gina’s husband, approached us, a smile on his face. “Ladies, enjoying the evening so far?” He asked, his eyes twinkling with warmth as he placed his hand on the small of Gina’s back. We smiled and nodded in reply. Gina turned casually and gave him a soft kiss on his lips as though she didn’t just swoon over another man. Mia and I exchanged a glance, soft smiles playing on our lips. “Mia, come on, let’s go introduce you to our potential client whom you’ve been pursuing for months,” he said, and to i and Gina quickly added, “Mia has been trying to secure a partnership with Ryan’s company for months and not once did she's getting to meet him in person.” He smiled at her. “He honored our invite, so hopefully this means we’re close to sealing off the deal.” Mia beamed with a smile as Bob’s eyes sparkled with excitement. “Come on, let’s go make some magic happen.” And turning to me, he said “And Kira, Ryan would like to meet you too. I guess you’ve piqued his interest.” Mia gave me a sly, knowing look, and I felt my cheeks flush with a mix of excitement and nervousness. Gina looked at me surprised, then back to her husband. I watched them communicate with their eyes. “What did I tell you?” Mia teased as we followed Bob towards the VIP lounge, leaving Gina behind. I nudged her playfully without responding. Towards the lounge, the music grew louder and the lighting became more dim. I could feel the anticipation build up inside me. Of all the beautiful women in the room, I’m the one who piqued his interest. I wonder why. As we approached the lounge, Ryan Kings turned to face us, his eyes fixed on mine with an unwavering gaze that made my heart skip a beat. I felt shivers run down my spine again. Mia nudged me slightly as if to say ‘good luck’.
