While Sofie Meyer was busy following the trail with the Austrians and Sam Gable was making her inquiries with Scotland Yard, DCs Tony Curtis and Nick Dodds had drawn what they considered to be the short straw in the search for connections to the imposter's life. Meyer had instructed them to look into the deaths or disappearances of any German or Austrian citizens within the UK during the preceding five years. She'd included Austrians as it would have been simple for a German to have passed themselves off as an Austrian if they'd been a member of the Stasi. She surmised that Schneider may not have been the first victim of the group responsible for his death.
