Chapter 1: The Bloodstained Gala
Golden chandeliers illuminated the grand ballroom of the Alverez family's annual business gala. Crystal glasses sparkled beneath the lights while the country's most influential businessmen and women exchanged smiles, laughter, and expensive handshakes.
Tonight was supposed to be another celebration of success.
For Anastasia Alverez, however, it was simply another duty.
As the only daughter of one of the country's wealthiest business families, she had attended countless events like this since childhood. Elegant dresses, flashing cameras, and endless conversations with strangers had become part of her life.
Years ago, a tragic accident had stolen her eyesight.
Since then, the world around her had become silent, uncertain, and filled with invisible dangers.
That was why her father never allowed her to walk alone.
"Raphael."
The young man stepped forward immediately.
"Yes, Miss Anastasia."
He was more than a bodyguard.
Raphael had trained for years under elite security professionals and was also a trusted relative of her father. Calm, disciplined, and always alert, he rarely showed emotion.
"You don't have to stand so close," Anastasia whispered with a small smile.
"My duty is to protect you."
His answer was always the same.
She sighed.
"I know."
Across the ballroom, Mr. Alverez greeted his business partners while security guards quietly watched every entrance.
No one noticed several unfamiliar guests entering the building.
No one noticed the cold eyes watching the Alverez family from the shadows.
Everything appeared perfect.
Until—
Bang!
A gunshot shattered the music.
Screams erupted across the ballroom.
Guests dropped to the floor while tables overturned and glasses exploded into pieces.
"Everyone, get down!" security shouted.
Raphael immediately grabbed Anastasia's wrist.
"We have to leave. Now!"
"What happened?" Anastasia asked, panic filling her voice.
"Stay behind me."
Another shot echoed.
People ran in every direction.
Raphael wrapped one arm around Anastasia and shielded her body as bullets struck the marble pillars nearby.
Mr. Alverez drew the attention of the attackers.
"Raphael!" he shouted.
"Take my daughter! Don't look back!"
"I won't leave you, Dad!" Anastasia cried.
She struggled against Raphael's grip.
"Dad! Please!"
Raphael tightened his jaw.
"I'm sorry, Miss Anastasia."
Without another word, he lifted her into his arms and rushed toward a private emergency passage hidden behind the ballroom walls.
Behind them...
Gunfire continued.
The screams grew louder.
Then—
One final gunshot echoed through the hall.
Silence.
Anastasia's heart stopped.
"Dad...?"
No one answered.
Only the sound of Raphael's hurried footsteps remained as he carried her deeper into the darkness, unaware that this single night would change both of their lives forever.
