Abby POV-
"Abby I'd like to introduce you to sir Hamilton, he will be joining us for dinner," momma sneered making sure I knew I wasn't invited.
I looked up noticing a tall handsome man in his early twenty's watching me from the doorway. He has short red hair, bright green eyes with a gold reflection, and a trimmed red beard. I instantly felt an attraction to him but I ignored it.
"Hello sir, welcome to the Barnabee household. I do hope you enjoy your time here," I recited the greeting from memory never meeting his eyes.
"Thank you, Miss. Abby I do hope to enjoy my stay here," sir Hamilton smiled at me, I gave a weak smile back and turned around. I still felt his eyes on me as I worked.
"Sir would you like to see the rest of the house, I'm sure one of the twins would be happy to show you around," momma said in her too sweet tone.
"Would Abby be able to show me around, or is she too busy," he asked quietly, I felt his eyes following me as I got the pan oiled and heating up to sauté the veggies.
"Oh sir-" I started to say looking up at him but quickly got interrupted by momma.
"She has to make her famous fish burritos, why don't we get Layla or Lola to show you around," momma said very quickly over me.
He nodded his head seeming disappointed, but I ignored it. I was nothing special so he must just want to use me like everyone else does. Momma guided him out of the kitchen not noticing me watching, I almost didn't see him turn and give me one last look. Our eyes met and I blushed, bit my lip, and turned away quickly getting back to my burritos. I started chopping the fish into bite size pieces and started marinating them. I was finishing chopping the veggies when Sir Hamilton found his way back into the kitchen. I ignored him until I was done then looked up to notice he wasn't with anyone, and he was leaning on the counter only an arm's length away from me. I jumped back startled, my hand to my chest catching my breath.
"Sir you startled me, I'm so sorry I didn't realize you were trying to get my attention," I gasped out.
"I'm so sorry Abby I wasn't trying to scare you," he jumped up seeming sheepish for scaring me. "I was kind of enjoying watching you work, you seemed so entranced."
"Is there something I can do for you Sir," I asked avoiding eye contact.
"Actually, your mother asked for you, said something about dinner taking a long time, even though it's not even six o'clock," he said stepping a little closer to me.
"s**t," I covered my mouth ashamed of using such foul language in front of a guest. "I apologize that was inappropriate of me. Can you please tell her it will be done by no later than seven thirty?"
He nodded his head, and I noticed a small smile on his face. I mentally berated myself for cursing in front of momma's special guest. I only use those words when I'm alone or the maids are arounds. I quickly finished making the burritos, checking that the fish was cooked thoroughly and everything was perfectly seasoned. I wrapped a burrito each knowing now why momma wanted me to make her least favorite dish. She is either selling me, or up selling one of the twins to Sir Hamilton.
About forty five minutes after Sir Hamilton left the kitchen I called one of the maids over, and asked her to gather everyone for dinner. I plated a single burrito for each person making sure leftover ingredients were placed in the center of the table. I also made sure the warmer had tortillas so they could roll themselves new ones.
"Dinner is served, enjoy," I stated and bowed my head down backing up till I was back in the kitchen.
I heaved a sigh as I plopped down onto a chair, and almost fell backwards as Sir Hamilton stormed in a few seconds later. I shot up quick and looked directly into his swirling golden green eyes, angry pouring out of him. I cowered away from him terrified that I did something wrong. He instantly calmed down and touched my cheek gently.
"I'm taking you away from here Abby, I can't stand watching them treat you so terribly," he said softly while caressing my cheek.
"I can't go, I don't know you, and momma won't let me," I whispered in shock over his gentleness and the tingling sensation of his touch.
"I've been watching over you since the day your dad left, I just couldn't do anything to save you until now," he sighed heavily.
"I don't understand," I stepped back instantly missing his touch, but terrified of what's happening.
"Please trust me Abby, let me take you out of here, if you don't like staying with me I will take you anywhere you want to go," his eyes pleaded with me turning more gold.
"I don't own anything to take with me," I whispered looking away from his captivating eyes.
He grabbed my chin and made me look him dead in the eyes. Instantly calmness washed over me and I felt myself agreeing to go with him. He grabbed my hand and pulled me along behind him making sure I couldn't pull away, but didn't hold on too tight. My face is beat read as I follow him to the dining room, and gasp when I look up. The whole room is trashed with pieces of food all over the floors and walls. Momma and the twins are watching me with daggers in their eyes.
