Not knowing if she could walk to her house in two hours, Elena sighed. She felt miserable, all of the past events kept on reappearing in front of her eyes and she had no control over them. Evelyn's father offered her a ride home, but she refused. She felt stupid for doing so.
"I could've already been at home." She let out as she gritted her teeth, frustrated at her decisions. She didn't want to bother her mother with picking her up. In her eyes, she was always busy and she knew that Sally had to get some rest, it was just how it was. She didn't get to see her parents that often, but she knew that they cared about her and Victor, maybe even Lucy, though she didn't like her that much yet. Maybe she'd never like her, because she was sure that her visions, or whatever the heck she had- tried to show her that Lucy was not who she seemed to be.
"What are you doing?" She heard a voice ask. Elena was slightly terrified of it for a second until she realized that it was indeed Ryan. He was one of her friends who was quite distant from her and her peers as well. She was even surprised that he acknowledged her presence after everything that happened to her.
"Uh- I was just...on a sleepover." She said bluntly. In all honesty, she didn't know how to respond to him. "Oh..." He replied. "I assume at Maggy's place, right?" He asked while Elena nodded in response. "How did you know?" Elena asked. "I just guessed." He replied.
It was way too awkward.
How long is he gonna
stand here for?
Why am I not
proceeding anywhere?
"Uh, sorry Ryan, but I gotta go." She faintly smiled at him, just to not seem rude. "Sure thing, I ain't holding you." He chuckled making Elena playfully roll his eyes at him. "See ya around, Elena." He added. Just like that, Elena left. She was still weirded out by that entire situation, but she knew that Ryan wasn't a bad guy.
_______
"Elena, you look exhausted..." Her mother said and, just by her expression, she looked worried.
I wish that somebody
cared about me too...
Lucy sighed for a second until she decided to go to her bedroom.
"Lucy, lunch will be ready in a few minutes." Sally let out, but Lucy ignored her. For some reason, she felt jealous. Maybe she truly needed that warm love that she had never got. She didn't know.
A few seconds later, her so-called brother stormed into her bedroom. "Uh, hey- mum said to call you, so I came..." Victor let out quickly and Lucy for a second could not understand what he was trying to say, since she was way too focused on staring at the ceiling.
Victor cleared his throat. "You coming?" Lucy glanced at him with a small smile. "Yeah, sorry for not responding to you..." Lucy let out and she did feel kind of guilty, Victor didn't do anything bad to her. "That's fine..." He shrugged. "We...can play Roblox with Elena later if you'd like to, that is..." He muttered and just by his facial expression she could see that he was kind of nervous and hesitant to ask her at first. "Sure thing, I wanna get to know my siblings better." She said. Victor nodded. "Okay..." Just like that, he left without closing the door.
He probably doesn't like that I agreed to his offer...
Why would he even
ask me that...?
"I am thinking too much about it..." She said. Soon after that, she got up and walked out of the door, purposely shutting the door behind her, which made Elena flinch. "No need to be that aggressive, jeez..." She let out frustrated. "Sorry, I opened my window, it won't happen again." Elena sighed in response. "I hope so, Dad doesn't like noise in the house that much," Elena said and soon after that, she left.
"She truly doesn't like me..." Lucy let out as she walked into the kitchen to find James eating popcorn and she was confused. "Don't tell mum- please..." James let out while Lucy gulped. "Uh, lunch is ready-" That was when the realization hit her, and she started laughing at him. "Lucy, that ain't funny!?" He let out. "What's not funny?" Sally asked as she walked into the kitchen. She widened her eyes. "James?!" James widened his eyes in response, he was too stunned to speak. "You know that it's lunch, I ain't that bad of a cook." She huffed while Lucy just stood there not knowing what to do.
"I'm sorry, Sally..." James glanced down. "You better be." She placed her hands on her hips. "You too Lucy, let's go eat." She furrowed her brows and Lucy was not going to lie- she looked scary. "Yes, ma'am." Lucy let out, slightly panicked.
_______
"You're not that bad for a beginner," Victor said, slightly surprised, and he truly was. "Vic, this is so boring, can't we play something else?" Elena let out and, of course, Lucy knew that she wasn't welcomed yet here. "I'll just...go to my room, thanks for playing with me, Elena and Victor." She said with a smile on her face. "No- you don't have to go, it's just that Elena and I already have our fave games to play and some of them ain't Roblox related..." Victor said.
"God- Victor, you don't have to lie, she is not what she seems to be." Elena let out, while Lucy could not control the surprise in her eyes. "So, what?" Victor fought back and Lucy was surprised that he stood up for her. "Mom's right, she's our sister now. Her whole life she felt abandoned and now she finally has a home and you're treating her like crap." Victor let out and, of course, that Lucy was thankful to him, but he didn't know how much trouble she had caused to other children. Her conscience started drowning her ever since she entered this home.
"Victor...thank you, but-" Just like that, Elena rushed out of the living room. She was crying, she was hurt by the words Victor had told her. "Crap..." Victor let out. "Sorry for the trouble, but you don't know me that well." Lucy let out while Victor glanced in her direction. "I know, but she was rude to you and you don't deserve that hatred."
"Trust me on this one, I deserve way worse than you could ever imagine." She said and soon after that, she left Victor alone, speechless. "What the heck did she do? Kill people?" He let out, still surprised.
_______
Just their faces and the pain in their eyes were enough for Lucy to go crazy. She didn't know that it would affect her that much. She thought that she'd forgotten everything- moved on, but she couldn't, she felt a responsibility for those children, but she couldn't do anything. She felt like she had her hands tied.
Why was she even feeling that way? She hated being there, but she never hated them, she never wanted to treat them that badly, but in the end, she did. Maybe that was why she heard someone knocking on her window in the dark... She tried not to do anything about it, just...turning around and shutting her eyes to fall asleep fast, but she couldn't.
She felt terrible, the cold sweat washing over her, the shivers she felt down her spine- she didn't even know why she felt that way. That was when she heard a voice. "Hello." Just like that, everything went black.
