For some odd reason, Lucy wanted to go outside after a few days. She just wanted to know what was going on. That white truck confused her since it seemed pretty standard, but a random guy shapeshifting into an animal was weird... "How did he even do that?" She muttered to herself. "What?" She heard someone from behind questioning her. Great, now they'll think that I'm crazy... She turned around with a flashlight turned on. A few moments later she widened her eyes. "Victor?" She blurted out, shocked. "What are you doing here...at night?" She asked, while Victor rolled his eyes in response. "I was out with my friends, of course, you forgot about it. You are not yourself lately." He let out as he crossed his arms. In response, Lucy smiled at him apologetically. "Sorry..." She shrugged. "I had too much stuff going on with myself lately..." She said. "I'm sorry...too." Victor let out. "For what...?" She asked. "I shouldn't have lashed out at you..." He replied. "That's fine with me... I am used to it..." She chuckled, trying her best to erase the memories of the past. "Anyway, what are you doing?" He asked. "Uh- nothing...just walking." She let out and it was pretty obvious that she lied. "You can't fool me, sis. Why are you here?" He raised an eyebrow at her and Lucy could only sigh in defeat. "Fine, I saw a boy- a few days ago and I wanted to meet him again..." That was partly true, she couldn't tell her brother that she had met a guy who could turn into an animal just like that. "You're already catching boys here?" He let out, surprised. "Never thought that you'd like anyone else this soon." He laughed while Lucy wanted to punch him, but didn't. "Stop it, Victor." She frowned. "That ain't funny." She added as she glanced down for a second. "Sorry, Lu..." He said. "Dude, it's fine..." She sighed. "I just wished that you didn't think of me in such a way..." She admitted as she glanced at him. "Okay..." He replied just to not sound awkward. "I'll go home now, bye." He smiled at her. Just as he was about to turn around, they both heard a loud sound coming from the sky that startled them. Some of the neighbors came outside after a few minutes and were confused and scared at the same time. Lucy glanced at them for a second, but soon after that, she heard Victor speak. "What the heck-" Victor was cut off by a blonde boy. "Run?!" He shouted at them. "Those kids are crazy." A man commented. His son agreed with him. Lucy and Victor ran to their house and locked the door. "We should help him, Vic." Lucy let out. "Why?" Victor asked. "Because it's the right thing to do." Lucy let out. Victor exhaled. "We're gonna be dead girl." He let out. _______ "Why did they come back?" David muttered to himself. "They said that I am useless after all..." He let out. David Collins was an unusual person to other people because of the way he acted towards them, but in the lab where he spent half of his life, he was useless to them. He just didn't fit in anywhere, always being a weirdo or just way too normal to the ones who believed in supernatural things or experiments. For example, psychic powers, telekinesis, shapeshifting... He was one of those shapeshifters, but he was labeled as weak and useless most of the time because he couldn't control his ability well. He felt guilty about it. He was taken away when he was only six years old and it sucked to not see his parents that much until he found out that they had been gone for almost six years. It tore him apart...the thought of the only people he thought he could easily belong to, to finally be loved, but they were gone, he couldn't make them come back...no matter how hard he tried to. That was one of the reasons he had to survive, even if he was only sixteen without a place to go and those agents were haunting him, he couldn't give up. He knew that his parents would like him to survive, to feel that happiness he was supposed to feel, but couldn't. Maybe he was destined to meet Lucy, who was slightly weird to him and annoying, but maybe she could help him and the other children as well. He just had to believe that. That was when he saw the weird looks people were giving him. "Eh, I'll go to sleep, this is nonsense." A male let out. "Do you need any help kid?" A woman asked. David shrugged in response. "No, miss, I'm fine." He smiled. "What are you doing here?" David asked, surprised. "We came to see what was going on," Victor replied. David sighed in response. "I thought that they would jump from a helicopter or something... I guess that it was just a warning this time or they're searching for me." David let out. "Just— try to stay hidden, you have somewhere to live, right?" Lucy asked. David nodded in response. "Okay, then..." Victor let out. "Let's go, Lu, we don't want to get into trouble because this guy is delusional." He blurted out. Lucy didn't have any choice, but to listen to him. "Okay, don't take his words seriously David, take care." She smiled at him and soon after that, she followed Victor to their house. _______ "What was all that about?" Victor asked. "That was the guy I was telling you about..." She let out. "Why did he tell us to run?" He questioned. "Uh..." Lucy shrugged, not knowing how to respond. Silence. That silence was interrupted by Elena walking towards them. "What are you two doing?" She asked, suspicious of them. "Lucy's got a boyfriend." Victor let out. Lucy glared at him. "I do not!!!" "Damn, I didn't know that." Elena chuckled and soon after that she rushed upstairs to her bedroom. _______ "Why did you lie to her?" Lucy questioned. "Because I don't want her to be in danger." He replied. "Who knows what that guy is up to." He added. "He—" Lucy was interrupted. "Please don't defend him, Lu." "Why can't you just listen!!!" She let out. "I'm going to sleep." Lucy let out a sigh of frustration. She couldn't believe that Victor didn't believe her a single thing. She told him about everything she knew, but Victor was way too stubborn to listen to her.
