Chapter 2

662 Words
“To the bride and groom, may the rest of your life….” The corner of my eye caught a familiar man in a black suit, I could’ve sworn I saw his silhouette. Was that Tianno? What is he doing at this wedding? I can identify him in a crowd of thousand people. As soon as we clinked our glasses in honor of the happy couple I excused myself from the table. Beverly was giving me a worried look but I dismissed it with a small smile and almost start to speed walk in the direction he disappeared to. This is crazy, he LEFT YOU at the altar what are you doing? I really shouldn’t have come to the wedding I’m clearly not ready to face what happened two years ago as my head is not in the right mind space. “Elle, are you okay? You look like you’ve seen a ghost” I nearly spilled the entire contents of my glass out of my hand. “Yeah, maybe because you just scared the hell out of me, I told you not to creep up on people like that” She gave me another worried look which is so unbecoming right now as I don’t need pitty right now. “Honey, I called out to you from the hall did you not hear me?” “Bev, I think I saw HIM”. A part of me just want to get him out of my system, but seeing him everywhere, smelling him in public places makes me miss the good times we had even more.”Maybe you saw his twin” she smiles at me.”You know he’s miles away on a boat cruise with his new fiancée”. Pulling her face in a gagging motion while emphasizing the last word. “I hate to admit that you’re always right “ We went back to our table just in time for the MD to announce another speech ,one of the groomsmen arrived late due to a family emergency. Just as he stood up holding his glass we locked eyes for a split second and looked away to address the room full of people. I can’t believe it, it’s HIM, it’s really Tianno. I definitely saw him and now he’s standing right in front of me with everyone else’s attention on him. My heart is about to jump out of my chest, my scalp is prickling and it feels like something is chocking me. “Ladies and gentlemen, thank you all for coming today. My name is Liam and I’m a long life friend to Mark…” Wait…Whaaaat? Did he just stand there and lie in front of all these people about who he is just to avoid me? He can’t even look at me for two whole seconds? How is this even possible? Did we both just come to the wrong wedding on the same day? Talk about being at the wrong place at the wrong time. Karma if this is a cruel joke I am not amused. “Doesn’t that Liam guy looks exactly like Tianno”? By the look on Bev’s face she didn’t see my initial reaction.“What a coincidence!!” She shrieked. Yes, what a ‘coincidence’ indeed, I mentally roll my eyes at her. How is this a coincidence? I was just staring right through him not realising everyone else raised their glasses at the end of his speech. I want to throw this fine piece of china at his face. I stood up and rushed to the ladies room, afraid my eyes won’t hold back the tears a second longer. What sick game is he playing? Well it doesn’t matter I’m not playing his games anymore. So tonight Tianno, I vow to forget you forever.. I cleaned myself up and slipped out of the wedding a cab already waiting for me outside. I’ll text Bev on the way home.
