The Alpha: Rejection and desperation

535 Words
Lucio and Antonio's life continued to spiral out of control. They had lost their parents, and now they were struggling to survive on their own. Their foster parents, who were supposed to care for them, were instead neglecting them and making them feel like burdens. Antonio, the younger brother, was desperate to provide for himself and Lucio. He felt like he had no other choice but to steal from their foster parents. He would take small amounts of money or food, hoping that it would go unnoticed. But one day, he was caught red-handed by their foster mother. She was furious and accused Antonio of being a thief. She told Lucio that they were no longer welcome in her home and that they had to leave immediately. Lucio and Antonio were devastated. They had nowhere to go and no one to turn to. As they packed their bags, Lucio couldn't help but feel a sense of despair wash over him. He had lost his parents, and now he was losing the only home he had left. He felt like he was being abandoned all over again. Antonio, sensing his brother's distress, tried to comfort him. "We'll be okay, Lucio," he said, his voice trembling. "We'll find a way to make it on our own." But Lucio just shook his head. "We're all alone, Antonio," he said, his voice cracking. "No one wants us. We're nothing but a burden to everyone." Antonio tried to protest, but Lucio just pushed him away. "Leave me alone, Antonio," he said, his eyes welling up with tears. "I can't do this anymore." As they left the house, Lucio felt like he was walking into a void. He had no idea what the future held, but he knew it couldn't be good. They were two young boys, alone in the world, with no one to turn to. They walked for hours, not knowing where they were going. They just knew they had to keep moving. They were cold, hungry, and scared. As night began to fall, they curled up together in an alleyway, trying to find some semblance of comfort in each other's presence. But even that was fleeting. As they drifted off to sleep, Lucio was haunted by nightmares of their parents' death. He saw them lying in the hospital bed, their eyes closed, their faces pale. He heard the sound of the doctor's voice, telling him that they were gone. He woke up with a start, his heart racing. Antonio was still asleep, but Lucio couldn't shake off the feeling of dread that had settled in his stomach. They spent the next few days on the streets, scrounging for food and shelter. They were rejected by everyone they met, told that they were too young, too poor, too unwanted. Lucio felt like he was losing himself, like he was disappearing into the darkness. He couldn't find a way out, no matter how hard he tried. He knew that they would never be the same again, that they would never be able to go back to the way things were before. They were trapped, caught in a cycle of poverty and neglect. And Lucio knew that they might never escape.
