I looked at the young man in front of me, who had his eyes trailing all over my body like a predator hunting its prey.
I immediately averted his gaze, the minute Brien called out to him making me quiver on my spot.
“Antonio.” Brien called out to him.
“Is there something wrong?” He asked, standing up to his feet and looking in our direction.
“Nothing serious Alpha” he responded as he had an evil smirk on.
I think I remember where I'd heard the name before!
Isn't that the most powerful Alpha king across all packs…
The soul taker?… I thought to myself as a tremor feeling swept through me standing next to him by the table.
But surprisingly, that wasn't all.
He had a whole different scent, making me want to touch by the wrist wanting to feel his strength, in finding out why he made me so weak down my knees.
I quickly stared at Brien, who looked more like he was paranoid over the fact that the young man spoke to me.
“I would love to make a request.” Antonio said.
“I want her seated next to me at this table.” He said, smiling at me.
Immediately, the whole room was filled with murmurs from left to right as everyone suddenly had something to say about his request.
“It's not…” Brien said, just before Antonio had his words cut short.
“Even for me Alpha?” He said leaning forward as he had his eyes locked In Brien’s.
I looked up, meeting the gaze of Brien who stood still and defeated in the presence of the other Alphas and elders.
“Sure…”
“Sure…Sh-she can” He stuttered fighting with his words.
“Great.” Antonio said, smiling at me.
“Come, sit,” He said, stretching out his hands to me.
Weirdly, his coarse palms, that are undoubtedly the hands of a warrior, felt so sleek on my bare arm, which made the hairs at the back of my neck tingle. And my wolf warmed up to him, irrespective of him not been my mate.
He spiked odd attraction, in every way imaginable.
I had my head lowered to the ground feeling somewhat scared of what was going to happen afterward.
I took a few breaths trying not to ruin his dinner as I stayed still beside him.
He turned smiling at me like he had noticed I was making too much effort in computing myself next to him.
“Breathe.” He whispered into my ears.
I couldn't understand why his scent got stronger and stronger by the minute.
He glanced at me once more and smiled, I smiled back a bit forcefully and then looked at Brien over the table.
Surprisingly his eyes were fixed on mine ever since the very minute I sat by the table.
“Brien, you seem to be carried away,” Fernandez asked, taking a sip of his wine.
“Is anything the matter?” He asked, making everyone look in Brien's direction who did nothing but stare at me from across the table.
“I'm fine.” He replied in such a cold manner.
“Why don't we get on with the business of the day?” Brien said, trying to take their minds off the fact that something was wrong.
“Oh yeah, the talk,” An elder from a neighboring pack said.
“Why are you unmarked?” Antonio said, whispering into my ears.
At first, I wondered why he felt so concerned over that but the minute he had his hands on my thigh softly, my wolf howled, as it struggled to free itself.
What is happening to me? I thought to myself as I stared into his eyes.
“I heard you weaklings feast on strong wolves like myself”
“Are you that tasty right now?” he asked as his fingers trailed on my thigh.
I gasped.
Heat traveled through my body, as I started to feel slight tingles down my stomach.
“More wine!” Elsa called out to me from her chair, making me alert immediately as I was up on my feet.
As I turned wanting to leave, Antonio held me by the wrist aggressively.
I could tell he wasn't pleased either seeing how they had me tossed here and there.
“Sit!!” he ordered, low but firm.
The aura it exuded, leave you without any doubt as to why they are the most revered, after the Lycans.
Surprisingly, my wolf became submissive almost immediately, making me sit back down.
Elsa had her mouth shaped like an O, feeling shocked over the fact that for the first time, I had her orders declined.
“Let the others do it” Antonio ordered, with a smile, pissing her off in the most subtle way possible.
Elsa stood up glaring at Antonio as she walked out on the others.
“Back to the Alliance...” Brien spoke up again, calling everyone's attention back.
“We all know how profitable it would be on your end to have a share of most properties here in the Crimson Shadow Pack,” Alejandro said, faking a smile at the guests as he spoke.
The minute he said that the whole board stayed silent as they communicated with their eyes.
“In conclusion, we need an Alliance from you,” an Elder said smiling at the guests.
“Would that include me having to take her home?” Antonio asked Brien with a daring look.
Brien stayed mute for a couple of seconds and then exploded.
“That's it! Out everyone!” he said yelling at his guests.
Everyone stared back at him, shocked at his unbelievable reaction.
“Ava!” he called out to me. “Come here at once!” He ordered.
I shivered running over to his side of the table, as he stood up glaring at Antonio and Fernandez.
He held me by the hand walking out on his guests aggressively as I feared what he had in mind to do to me.
Brien had me taken to a room separate from the house where he had me locked in.
I heard the door click, as he appeared in front of me only to return angrier.
“What are you going to do?” I asked, struggling with the bed I was tired of.
“How dare he lay his filthy hands on my mate?!” He said aggressively pulling me closer to himself.
"You rejected me, remember?” I spoke back at Alpha Brien for the first time in history.
"I only did it to save face. I can't help the mate's bond.” He defended.
"How convenient.” I mock.
“Be quiet and stay still.” He ordered, his voice strained and pissed.
“What are you..” I yelled before being cut short by his hands on my face.
“No!” I cried out.
“How dare he?” he yelled.
“Please don't.” I pleaded, staring into his eyes, hoping for an intervention of any sort from the moon goddess.
Don't!…
