Something new

At the restaurant, Mathew and listra is seen sitting at the opposite direction. Listra seems shy. She isn’t looking at Matthew directly while speaking. This is her first time giving a guy the chance to go on a date with her. Through out her school days, she has focused on education as she swore nothing would distract her. Now she is out in the world , she needs to give love a chance as well as build up her career. Mathew actually found the lady sitting infront of him interesting. She has this peaceful and intelligent appearance. They talked about life generally, Mathew also asked her about the outcome of the application which she said she was yet to hear from the company. It was actually a good outing as the both got to know each other. Mathew was coming from a nuclear home of five. As the first son of the family, he actually grew up early. Catering and taking responsibility on time. This attribute drew listra even closer to him as she has also grown up being an orphan and taking care of her younger sibling.

They left the place feeling they have known each other for a long time. Mathew dropped listra infront of her apartment and left.

listra checked her mail for any notification. She has been doing this ever since she submitted her cv. She saw one mail that got her attention and opened it. It happened the mail was sent since two days. She wondered why she didn’t notice it. Maybe she has been clouded with the thought of Mathew that she didn’t pay attention to the headline. When she read through the content she found out the interview was actually today by twelve noon. She checked her time it was 10am already.

It takes about one hours to get to the interview venue,I have not taken my bath and I can not afford to spend any more time here. She quickly scanned her wardrobe for a suitable cloth, finding one, she washed her faced and applied little powder to enhance her beautify. She then called Mathew on the phone informing him of the latest development. Mathew asked her to wait so that he can take her there. “Please meet me at your junction replied listra as she doesn’t just want to fold hands and keep waiting for him. She immediately called for taxi who dropped her at their rendezvous. Mathew was seen waiting already. Listra smiled when she was him. She ran and entered inside the car. “Please drive as fast as you can”.

On getting to the venue, listra rushed in. Luckily one person was left waiting for her turn she joined him. The hr in charge collected her credentials. Listra completed her interview with the ceo feeling completely tired and hungry. The man in question had questioned her looks. Listra had told him she will try to to take note of that next time. According to him, she seemed a bit unofficial. Listra had smiled thinking “if I had told you I didn’t even take my morning bath while sitting in front of you , then you will know the dressing is just secondary” . But the good thing was that she got the job. Yes listra landed the job. She slowly walked out of the office feeling the sun on her face. Hot tears ran down her cheeks. She wish to celebrate her progress with her mum. It made her home sick. If at all her mum was still alive to see how far her daughter has come. She walked slowly towards the street. Her legs quiver a bit. She has also forgotten she hasn’t eaten anything yet. Just as she wanted to cross the street she heard her name. Hey baby, called Mathew. Listra opened her mouth agape. She was shocked to see Mathew was still in his car. He was chewing potatoe chips probably to quench his hunger. Listra saw the innocence in his eyes . Hey baby he called out again, I have been waiting, how did it go?. Listra snapped back from her thoughts, the trace of tears was still on her cheeks. “‘Mummy I have seen a supportive man”, cried listra silently. Mathew saw her mood and felt she didn’t get the job. “Is okay baby, we can always try again. Just get into the car let us look for where to eat, am so hungry.” He held her making her sit while he entered and drove off. They drove silently. Listra was busy thanking her stars. How lucky she is. Mathew on the other hand was thinking how he can make it up to her. He hates to see her cry.

They sat at the cozy restaurant with music paying on the background. Is that Nathaniel basset’s “Stay with me forever”. Matthew asked reminiscing his childhood days where they will play the music for hours just to learn the lyrics. Listra paid attention to the lyrics especially the part that said “hold my hands till eternity..don”t let me fall”. She looked Matthew straight in the eye and said; “I got the job baby”. Mathew felt confused. If you got the job, why were you crying? . Listra just stood up and sat on his laps. She kissed him. It was her first kiss and it felt good. They kissed eachother passionately for few minutes before she let go. Mathew felt good. But this passion, this mood, he too was confused. “Thanks for coming into my life, and I think am falling in love with you” said listra.
