Edward James Flynn was an independent software contractor who specialized in providing marginally legal packages for scanning private details from social media sites on the internet. Initially, Flynn was suspicious of the formal invitation he got in the UPS package at his home one afternoon. He noted that his name and address were precise and correct and the fancy stationary, raised printing and envelope addressing were all done in an expensive style, suggesting exclusivity.
