I waited until the house had fallen into the familiar hum of nighttime quiet. The boys were in the den arguing over some game that involved far too much yelling. Rio had gone upstairs to study in one of the dozen books I put in her room. Like all Alpha females, she truly was a studious one. I could never thank Evelyn enough for how she raised our girl.
