Chapter 3

1177 Words
The Alpha king was my mate. I look around me, assessing the situation. He was staring at me as if calculating whether he should kill me or not. My attention falls to the woman he’s holding. “I need to make sure she’s dead,” I say with a much braver voice than I feel. He growls and falls to his knees, holding her to him. “My king, I need to make sure,” I say again and take a step towards him. A minute passes and I look around, realising what I need to do. I pull out my phone and dial Hendricks. One of the wolves I knew was working here. “Hi Dr prodigy, what’s up?” “We have a pack situation on the roof,” I say and don’t take my eyes off the Alpha. “A situation like in... there shouldn’t be humans?” He asks in a low voice, and I grunt. “Yes, and we need bodies to disappear. Do we have a warlock in the building?” I ask. “Yes, Robin is here,” he doesn’t hide the urgency in his voice. “What happened?” “The Alpha king is here,” I say, and hang up. I move towards him and slowly move to sit on my knees in front of him. He slowly looks at me with his head to the side. His eyes were glowing in a way that I’ve never seen before. I feel like a prey, and as I study the tear tracks on his cheeks between the blood, it feels like I’m staring death in the eyes. “Her name is Lea,” he says with an inhuman voice and slowly lays her down in front of me. I shake my head and slowly check her pulls. No pulse. I start doing CPR without hesitation. I keep going as I feel his eyes on me. She suddenly takes a breath, and the Alpha grabs her head as she takes a breath. Her eyes jump open, and she looks confused as she looks at him. “Lea?” he says with a soft voice that sends chills through my entire body. This whole situation felt wrong. “Gabriel?” She whispers with a broken, confused voice as she looks at me. She suddenly grabs at her chest and then sees all the blood covering her dress. “Hello Lea, I’m Dr Walker, but you can call me Meira. Tell me where it hurts,” I say, but I don’t come closer as I see the tension growing in Gabriel's hands. Lea finally looks at Gabriel again. “You brought me back? You thought it would work! Really? That I would leave this body because of a mating ritual?” She laughs in his face, and I cover my mouth in shock as she slaps him. He just stares at her in disbelief. “And look what you’ve done to all these innocent people! You are no king! You're a monster!” “A Monster?” he asks with a low laugh. I didn’t understand what was going on, but something seemed very off. “My King!” A man shouts as he opens the door to the roof. Gabriel holds up his hand for them to stay back. I didn’t recognize him at all, but his scent screamed beta. I make eye contact with the other wolves and recognize Hendricks, who can’t stop his mouth from hanging open in shock. “Is she back?” A female asks with a desperate voice. She had the same features as Gabriel; she must be a relative. “Back?” Lea suddenly starts to laugh a wicked laugh. “She’s dead! Don’t you understand! She’s dead. This is my body now! I’m the only one in here now, thanks to you, ” she slaps the Alpha again, and I can’t stop myself from grabbing her hand before she can do it again. “Don’t touch him,” I growl. Her eyes meet mine, and then I finally see it. A demon was staring back at me. A Witch? Maybe? No, definitely a demon. “You dare touch me? Don’t you know I am the lover of the Alpha king?” she croons, and I c**k my head at her. “I only see a demon staring back at me.” My words make her head snap into a strange position. “You smell too powerful just to be a healer.” She tries to attack me, but I move fast enough that she falls on the ground. “You dare let her speak to me like this?” She says to Gabriel, and I finally look at him. He stands up and moves towards me. Something felt off about the way he was looking at me. “Alpha No!” His Beta shouts, and I take that as my cue to make a run for it. He attacks me with his claws, but I duck them and kick him in the stomach. I shift into my white wolf and bite him in his calf as he charges at me again. He grabs my body and throws me against the wall. The hit is so hard that I can feel three of my ribs on my left side are broken. I take a deep breath. At least there isn’t one sticking into my lungs. I get to my feet just in time to miss his next blow. His Beta tackles him to the ground and, with the help of his other guards, keeps him down. I look at Lea and see her eyes are glowing green. She’s controlling him. Without thinking, I charge towards her and change into my human form as I land on her. “Stop controlling him,” I growl, and she laughs in my face. Her blood splattered all over my face. “Never, he’s mine as long as I live!” She laughs hysterically and suddenly wraps her hands around my throat. “And you little omega, can’t do anything about it!” She started choking me with inhuman strength. I prey off her fingers, but just when I think I’m getting her fingers off of my neck, she suddenly bites me where her fingers were. I scream as I feel fangs tasting my blood. I struggle against her, but the next moment, she becomes slack. She throws me off of her and starts choking. “Your blood is her blood!” The demon chokes and claws at her throat. “Poison! Poison! Poison!” She shouts and rips her throat out as she struggles. I lay there in shock as I catch my breath and watch the woman kill herself. Gabriel comes running towards Lea, scooping her up in his arms. “NO! We were supposed to find a way to bring her back!” I lose consciousness, but not before I hear the Alpha King say, “It’s her fault she did this! She killed her!”
