A Better Change
One morning in the thick green forest of Sleepy Hills. The trees are dense, there are critters everywhere. Just a normal day in a nothing but ordinary landscape. Suddenly, the calm and peaceful life in the hills was disturbed. A glow of energy surges in the clearing causing the animals to run away and hide in the trees. Few moments later, a glowing object mysteriously appears out of the blue. Truly nothing but ordinary events in a hill.
Somewhere in the blue clear sky of Jar town. Josh is a thin short teenager with a golden hair. He quietly hovers in the sky with his flying hoverboard. The hoverboard appears to have wheels as propellers.
He enjoys the ride of his life flying above mountain and towns below him. Who else would not enjoy such pleasant scenery. His hoverboard releases a stealth energy field to hide himself in the clouds. He continues to fly aimlessly. In the middle of his enjoyment, his watch detects a strange occurrence. The watch has a shape and size of a regular smartphone, it covers Josh's entire forearm like a vambrace.
Josh pressed a button in the watch creating a 3D hologram showing the rising energy in The Sleepy Hills. "There's no such energy disturbance as strong as this before in this planet," he muttered to himself wondering such peculiar event. He sounds like a chirping cricket. He immediately pressed the jet button in his watch connected to the hoverboard. The nitro boost of the hoverboard activates releasing a blue flame, the hottest form of fire. Josh head towards the location in super speed.
Somewhere in Sleepy Hills, three high schoolers are hiking to the peak of the hill to make a vlog for their school project. Among the three, Chuck is the only one walking nervously.
Chuck is being paranoid glancing at everything in the hills they pass by. His mushroom hairstyle covers his eyes as he tilts his head. "Uh Guys, are you sure it is a good idea to film our vlog here? We don't know what dwells in this woods," Chuck uneasily said to the other two.
"We'll be fine, It's not like there are other things in this forest besides critters, bugs and snakes," Paul jokes to calm down his friend.
Thomas shrugs the two and remains walking in silence. He is noticeably pale with emotionless eyes.
Paul pats Thomas' shoulders, "Cm'on Tom, can you forget about that girl for a while? Overthinking will make you feel worse."
Tom replies "I messed up that conversation. She probably would avoid me now. I suck when it comes to her. It feels like my mind goes into the eternal void." followed by a deep "sigh".
"You should do something about her now. Before that James win her first. Man, that guy is good at girls. She and James are a good pair aren't they?" Paul uses reverse psychology to motivate Thomas to start his move.
Chuck interupt the two when he heard a creepy noise in the woods. "Shhhhhh, What was that! Do you hear that?" He is frightened.
Paul replied to him "The what?" The three paused in silence and can now clearly hear the eerie beeping sound.
"Beep, beep, beep, beeeeeep!" the sound echoes all over the hills.
"Right... What is that sound?" Paul is now also terrified by the sound. They take fats glances at their surroundings looking for the source of the sound.
Paul regains his composure then calmly speaks, "I think it came from there." He points at a direction with his lips. This action is common to Filipinos when they are pointing at something.
Paul encourages the two, "We should avoid that place and find another way to the top." He then starts moving to an opposite route of the sound.
Thomas felt that he needs to go where the sound is, as if it's calling him through his senses. Without hesitation, he mindlessly ran towards the area. Tom is capable of running very fast for long period even in a rocky hills because of his well-trained fit body.
"Tom wait! You idiot." Paul shouted at Thomas but he did not look back at them. Paul and Chuck had no other choice but to follow their friend.
The three hurriedly run into the clearing. In the dense trees, there are dark figures looming in the dark watching them. Dark Encantos, corrupted beings of the magical realm. Their body naturally releases dark colored smokes to hide themselves in the trees. The smoke is covering their face and body, their two red eyes are red as the eclipse.
The Trio did not noticed them while running as their attention was focused on the sound. The artifact seems to had also attracted their attention... or are they just after their new victims?
Chuck and Paul is now near the clearing. They can now clearly see the glowing object from a close distance with a glowing blue light. Thomas is already standing in front of the artifact. Paul and Chuck walks closer to the object but keeps their distance.
Paul scolds Thomas, "What the heck happened to you. You just ran without saying a single word. Well, technically, you're always like that," as he gasps for air while holding his knees. Paul is exhausted after that intense running, his sweat can be seen flowing into his fleshy body.
Chuck observed the object and notices its strange markings with blue light. The artifact has a size of a four person table, in a shape of cube. "Paul, What is this thing?" with scared expression.
"Hmmmm. It seems like an alien artifact. I had not seen marks and symbols like this before. I have seen a lot of ancient texts in internet but not like this one," claimed Paul as he crosses his arms while judging the appearance of the object.
Thomas touched the object causing Paul to raise his voice on him, " Are you insane!?"
Tom's actions made the artifact beep faster. Thomas takes away his hands and slowly move away from the object while gazing at it with awe. After a few seconds, Nothing happened.
"Phew, let's leave now before something bad happens. We don't know what that thing is. Let's take a picture of it and head out," Paul says after getting a sign of relief.
Chuck picked his phone on his sling bag and captures a photo of the object. Paul and Thomas turned away from the artifact. The artifact starts to vibrate and glow brighter.
The two looks back at it and quickly backed down. Paul exclaims, "Run!" as he is preparing to run. Chuck processed the event before moving himself. In a blink of an eye, the artifact suddenly explodes before the trio could run. The explosion released a flow of glowing energy, blasting them. The explosion made the three unconscious. They fall into the grassy soil. Thomas was the closest during the explosion followed by Paul. Chuck was pushed few feet farther.
The Trio appears to have absorbed the artifact's powers as the energy flow is now entering their bodies lying in the ground. Are these energies a gift, or a curse.
