Election Day
MJ picks up None at LAX. They fight traffic from the airport to MJ’s house in Santa Monica. None misses L.A., but not the traffic. Small talk fills the trip back. Texas is never mentioned. Both play it off like they’d never been apart. At MJ’s house, they change into steampunk outfits and leave for the bar.
About 8:30 p.m., None and MJ enter Beer Beakers carrying election signs. Shen accompanies them in a well-tailored suit and tie. Dressed so formal, he looks out of place.
The Blacksmith approaches them. “You have a lot of nerve coming here. Because of you, I had to delay payroll a week.”
None stammers. “The company didn’t pay? I had to move. The bill must have been lost in the mail.”
“Your card reversed charges. You’re not welcome here until you pay the bill
