Chapter 3 With a yell Daniel pulled the blow, cutting it so fine that he half expected to see a nick on Sarah’s throat. When someone tried to jump him as he left the alley his inhumanly fast reflexes had saved him, letting him spin away. He’d been sure it was another of the attackers and had lunged, never imagining it might be Sarah. He stared down at her for a moment longer, unsettled by how close he’d come to killing his friend, then he reached down with his free hand. “Sarah, forgive me. I had no idea it was you. Are you hurt?
