Chapter 8
Daniel woke slowly, his mind fuzzy. He felt weak, but he struggled to identify why. Eventually he realised his levels of green power were extremely low, though they were very slowly increasing. Instinctively he reached out to his environment and pulled more.
Over the next few minutes his mind started to clear. He became properly aware of his surroundings, of how packed with life they were, then that there were other people around. He remained relaxed, sensing Josef and Sarah and knowing they would protect him.
He remained in the comfortable not quite awake state for some time, not sleeping but not ready to awake up and face the world just yet. In the end he was drawn out of it by the sound of Mary’s voice.
