Chapter 7
Everything slowed for Daniel. He saw the demon approaching, tried desperately to pull his sword back, but there wasn’t enough time. The creature crashed against his chest… and bounced back off. Daniel struggled to understand for moment, then he realised there was a shield of green energy laying almost on top of his chest. Glancing up he followed the thread back to Mary. She’d saved him… but she was in danger of paying a terrible price. The energy needed to form and maintain the shield was considerable, and it was more than she could afford to give.
