Chapter 15
Daniel stepped into the small room, finding Josef already there. Josef had the remains of breakfast on his desk but he was focused intently on some paperwork in front of him. Daniel cleared his throat and Josef jumped slightly, then glanced up.
“Rough night?” he asked.
Daniel nodded as he walked over and sat down. “Very. I managed to intervene in one attack, but never got close to the others.”
“I heard about that one. You’re as much a suspect as a hero, especially after your disappearing act.”
“I couldn’t just stay there. I thought I could help prevent more deaths.” He sighed. “I was wrong.”
“How much do you know about the other attacks?”
“Not much. Where they happened, only roughly in some cases, and the time.”
