Chapter 5: A New Beginning

1185 Words
The next morning, the bright sun shone through the giant glass windows of the Global Vanguard headquarters. Leo sat in a massive leather chair on the top floor of the tallest skyscraper in the city. The private office was huge, with polished marble floors and beautiful dark wood furniture. Marcus stood quietly near the desk, holding a slim digital tablet and reading the morning corporate reports. "Young Master, everything is running perfectly according to your orders," Marcus said with a polite bow. "Laura has been demoted to a basic assistant at her marketing firm. Caleb has been thrown out of his logistics office, and his name is on the national blacklist. They now fully understand the terrifying weight of your power." Leo looked out the window at the busy streets below, his expression very calm. He did not feel happy about punishing them. He just felt a massive sense of relief and freedom. For three long years, his life had been filled with constant screaming, dirty dishes, and toxic insults. Now, he finally had absolute peace. "Good," Leo said softly, his deep voice serious. "Let them learn their lesson. They thought money gave them the right to treat human beings like dogs. What is next on my schedule for today, Marcus?" "You need to hire a new personal secretary, sir," Marcus replied, scrolling through his tablet screen. "The human resources team has just sent up the top three candidates after running global background checks. They are currently waiting outside your double doors right now." Leo let out a soft sigh, rubbing his temples with his fingers. "Bring them in one by one. But Marcus, please make sure they are not like Laura. I do not want anyone who is arrogant, flashy, or obsessed with high-society status. I need a secretary who is completely genuine, honest, and knows how to work hard." Marcus nodded respectfully and walked over to open the heavy double doors of the office. The first two candidates walked into the room together. They were wearing wildly expensive designer clothes, high heels, and very heavy makeup. The exact moment their eyes landed on Leo’s handsome face and his luxurious office, their eyes lit up with absolute greed. They smiled widely, tried to flirt with him, and began bragging about their wealthy family backgrounds. Leo felt a sudden wave of disgust in his chest. They looked and sounded exactly like Laura and Brenda. He raised his hand coldly and dismissed them within two minutes, telling them to leave the building. Then, Marcus called the final candidate into the private room. A young woman walked in slowly, holding a simple leather folder tightly against her chest. Her name was Olivia. She wore a neat, simple black dress, and her dark hair was tied back beautifully in a neat bun. She did not wear any flashy gold jewelry, and she had no heavy makeup on her face. She possessed a soft, natural beauty, and her bright brown eyes looked completely calm, innocent, and humble. When Olivia looked up and saw Leo sitting at the giant desk, she did not look greedy or shocked. She did not stare at his expensive suit. She simply bowed her head politely, walked forward with quiet grace, and stood at the front of his desk."Good morning, sir," Olivia said, her voice soft, clear, and very pleasant to hear. "My name is Olivia. It is an absolute honor to meet you today." Leo looked at her closely, his sharp eyes softening just a little bit for the first time in days. For three years, every person around him had a hidden agenda or a greedy motive. But looking at Olivia, he saw only honesty. "Sit down, Olivia," Leo said, pointing to the comfortable chair across from his desk. "Tell me about yourself. Why do you want to work for the Global Vanguard Group?" Olivia sat down gracefully, keeping her posture perfectly straight. She opened her folder and placed her resume neatly on the desk. "I came from a small town outside the city, sir. My family used to run a small logistics business before it closed down. I spent my youth helping my father manage the numbers, organize the inventory data, and fix the shipping schedules. I love working with data, and I want to work hard to help your company grow. I don't care about luxury life; I just care about doing a perfect job every day." Leo listened closely to the tone of her voice. She spoke with true humility and pride in her work. He looked down at her resume and noticed that her scores from college were completely flawless. She was incredibly smart, yet she had never bragged about it once during the interview. There was a quiet strength and dignity about her that Leo found incredibly refreshing. There is something truly special about this woman, Leo thought to himself. After three years of living with Laura’s constant screaming, arrogance, and insults, Olivia felt like a peaceful, clean oasis in a harsh desert. "Olivia," Leo said, leaning forward and resting his hands on the desk. "This job is very demanding. You will have to handle my private schedule, deal with difficult international investors, and stay late at the office sometimes to finish reports. Can you handle that heavy weight?" Olivia looked directly into Leo's dark eyes, a brave, genuine smile breaking across her beautiful face. She did not blink or look away. "I am not afraid of hard work, Mr. Leo. My father always taught me that if you treat people with respect and focus on your tasks, you can overcome any challenge. I promise I will work day and night, and I will not let you down." Hearing those words, Leo felt a sudden, fierce desire to protect her. She was a good, pure person who deserved a real chance to succeed in this harsh corporate world. He wanted to give her the world. He stood up from his chair, buttoning his tailored jacket, his presence grand and powerful. He walked slowly around the desk and stood right in front of her, holding out his large hand. "Welcome to the Global Vanguard Group, Olivia. You are officially hired as my executive secretary. Your desk is right outside my door, and you answer directly to me. No one else in this building can give you orders." Olivia’s eyes widened with pure happiness and shock. She stood up quickly and placed her small, warm hand into his large, strong grip. His touch felt solid, warm, and deeply protective. An electric spark danced between them in the quiet room. "Thank you so much, sir!" Olivia whispered, her heart racing. "I will start working immediately." As Leo watched her walk out of the office to set up her new desk, a genuine smile appeared on his lips. He knew that his journey of revenge was still moving forward, but for the first time, he felt genuinely excited about the future. He had found a true queen, and he was ready to show the world what happens when a king protects his own.
