Sunlight was flooding in through the long windows at the police station, and Detective Myron Baker was running out of reasons to stick around. His shift had ended fifteen minutes prior, Pete had gone home, and once again the portly policeman found himself pretending to finish up reports he'd already fully typed and submitted. Once again, he didn't want to go home. Once again, he was allowing his irrational fear to get the best of him.
