Chapter 53: Why?

1200 Words

I tore my eyes away from Bridgit and crawled into the fireplace. The massive thing easily held my body, but with the old wood and metal holdings, it wasn't easy to navigate my way through. Pain came from everywhere in my body, every time I moved. Whether it was the wood sending splinters into my skin, my broken leg spasming, or the concrete brushing my healing scars.  However I didn't have a choice but to keep moving, so I pushed on through the pain.  The further I crawled into the opening, the darker it became. I could hardly see the tunnel in front of me, as the dark gray concrete started molding together in my vision. I put one hand in front of the other, followed by my knees. I tried to ignore the sense of entrapment I was feeling, as the dark walls seemed to grow smaller around me.
