Hannah, indeed, gives a really cool performance.
The Alphas are dancing and singing with her, even though the songs are pretty new to them, thankfully they're also pretty catchy.
The crowd almost didn't want to let her go.
Fortunately, a DJ quickly replaces her at the end of her last song.
“Your dad told me it was supposed to be just a pocket show, just until the DJ arrives…” Hannah tells Jared who is waiting for her at the base of the small stairs on the side of the stage.
"Oh that's sad. I could hear a lot more from you.” He gives her a gentleman hand to help her to come down. Are they all original songs? Do you have more?"
"I have. Actually, I have a lot more... Maybe I can show you guys… Next time?" She tests as she holds her guitar awkwardly in front of her and shyly plays with her shoulder strap.
Imagine if she could be hired to sing at Alpha parties!?
"Absolutely! I would love that!"
"Oh really?!" The girl tries to control her excitement, clears her throat and with an effort goes on flatter, "Thanks, Alpha."
Hannah calls Jared Alpha for the first time, she couldn't help it. She spirals out of control, overjoyed with his response, if he's serious about it, she could even get to work singing her own songs!
It's like getting a promotion... and she knows full well that his father wouldn't want her to, but with his son asking, it could probably really happen!
Jared's lips curve at her acknowledgment of him and his title, and the young man runs a hand through his side-parted hair.
He's still shirtless, showing how much bigger he is compared to anyone Hannah is used to.
Their eyes are deeply connected for an instant and the joy on the girl's face turns nervous as she bites her lip and avoids his gaze with a quick survey of the party going on around them.
"Strange that you're not a gamma." The Alpha boy interrupts the growing silence.
“Oh, that's me. Strange.” The brunette nods and lifts an arm hopelessly, shrugging and smiling at him.
"Nah, you're amazing, I wonder how I didn't notice you before..."
"You know, I'm an omega." Hannah shakes it off as if the explanation is obvious. "Alpha Jared." She then adds more politely and gives him a teasing look, trying to regain her own confidence.
She refuses to let an Alpha affect her like that.
As inevitable as it is, apparently.
Hannah has avoided having to refer to him directly thus far (or any of them, for that matter) because then she would need to call him by his title. A Wolf cannot refer to their Alphas in any other way, unless they are willing to challenge them or something, which is not normally the case between omegas and Alphas.
The boy, in fact, is getting more and more excited by the ways of this strange omega around him. She recognizes his position, although she's still too bold for that and it intrigues him, but he's definitely enjoying it.
Plus, she's so damn attractive.
Jared is already all seduced after seeing her on that stage during all those last few songs.
“Hey, I was wondering… don't you want to go to a quieter place and let your Alpha get to know you a little better? I'm interested.” Jared smiles and raises an eyebrow giving her a vulnerable look, as if he's admitting to some intimate feelings.
Hannah's jaw dropped. Is her Pack’s heir flirting with her? Her mind explodes.
Being the Alpha's girl in the pack is a tough invitation to deny for any Wolf, but being the Alpha someone as hot as Jared... oh...
If she wasn't immersed in her mate bond, this Alpha's suggestion, with that so-Alpha way of his, would be irresistible.
“I-I was going to look for Luc." Hannah can't help but feel an immediate wave of nervousness as she realizes Jared's intentions. "He's my mate..." She tries to make it clear.
For them both.
"Oh, that guy... he's over there." Jared points to a group of yelling Alphas as two guys stand upside down over large beer kegs, competing who can drink more from a hose.
And one of the two guys is Luc.
“Oh, this is embarrassing.” He's so red, and some Alpha girls hold him in place by his legs which are up in the air and he's getting more and more drenched in beer. "I'll get him..."
"No, leave it there." Jared steps in front of her and stops her with an intentionally non-threatening movement of his hands slowly put on her shoulders. "He looks like he's having fun."
They both turn to watch with funny looks on their faces, Hannah clearly flummoxed and Jared all jaunty.
"So do you want to go with me?" He shifts his attention to her again and smiles crookedly.
"Did I say he's my mate?"
"I got it." The blond Alpha says without giving much importance and raising his eyebrows. “Still, shall we?”
“Oh…” Hannah realizes he wouldn't mind their mate bond… well, but she does. "Sorry Jared, it won't happen..."
"Alright, you're the one missing out..." His tone is relaxed. He smiles confident but still very friendly and interested. "Just because you're so cute, Hannah, I won't mind this time."
"Oh, shut up." She pushes him playfully with a giggle at the end.
Hannah's lips are parted and indignant now and she keeps a teasing look on him, as if she's telling the boy to look out and behave.
Jared laughs, amused by her full-attitude, even though she's an omega: She is denying him, playing with him, calling him by his first name… An omega calling him Jared... He thinks it's weird, but he backs off even further and keeps staring her bold eyes on him. He gives her a final wink, before turning back to his group of friends, at some distant.
He calls them out:
"Hey guys, we should start some games now, it's getting so boring in here." The blonde heir lifts his beer bottle and Hannah feels she couldn't be happier that she said no. She didn't want to play "games" with Alphas and drink at a party, even if her life depended on it.
She sighs and moves to rescue her boyfriend.
"Hi... I need to talk to him." Hannah says to some Alpha girls that surround him.
“He's in the middle of a competition” Abighail, a tall black Alpha girl, says with a smug smile, but then lowers his legs that she was holding up and Luc lands on “standing”, leaning against her.
"Yes! I'm in the middle of a competition." Luc has a goofy grin, as he throws himself into the Alpha's arms, looking for support.
“You're too drunk,” Hannah explains the obvious. He couldn't stand at all.
"I'm fine, aren't I, Alpha?" Luc turns to the tall girl holding him with his puppy dog eyes.
"Totally fine, you’re winning gamma, one more round?" The strong girl says in a croakily, condescending voice.
"One more round!" He throws his hands up, but luckily for him, she can easily keep holding him up.
Hannah couldn't stop shaking her head at her mate's attitude, and she wasn't giving up.
"You're going to pass out." She tries to get closer and talk only to him, but to no avail.
"Don't spoil my fun Hannah, you had yours there!" He points to the stage. "Let me have mine here." Then Luc pulls the Alpha girl's hand and Abighail gives Hannah a funny look which Hannah shrugs in defeat.
"Oh, all right, okay, go ahead then." She doesn't mind talking too loudly, they couldn't hear her anymore anyway, as he enters a new competition with lots of screaming and girls around.
"Really..." The brunette sighs again and crosses her arms, while looking around for Fernilia this time.
Hannah realizes that she's been the focus of a lot of Alpha’s glares, but she doesn't feel like "enjoying" this new feature she's been given. So the baddie-looking girl gets happy when she sees Fernilia near a circle of tall wolves around the buffet table.
Food! Of course, she's around food!
Hannah smiles and approaches her friend.
The Alphas and Fer give her their attention quickly as she approaches, but it's Fer who comes to her without even thinking about it with a cheerful voice and holding many glasses in her hands.
"I'm so happy for you Han, I would give you a hug if I could." She manages to keep the glasses from falling, some full, some not, shifting focus to her arms that hold everything, to make sure everything is balanced, before turning to her friend again. “You were wonderful, everyone was loving it, right guys?”
The group of girls talking among themselves barely pay any attention to the question, even though some of them look curiously at Hannah as they joke with each other about something.
"Oh, I really need to find my Beta." An Alpha girl with long, beautiful nails says approaching Fernilia. “Hold it for me.” She pushes a red cup and a paper plate of small treats to the dark-skinned girl.
"Oh yes Alpha..." Fer twists her neck to brace everything in her arms.
“Oh, by the way, hi!” Katharina says and Hannah recognizes her, she's from Hannah’s pack. One of the coolest Alphas of her Pack, in fact. “Hannah, right? You were great!” Katharina pats her shoulder and Hannah can't hide how excited she got to see Katharina up close. And even got a compliment!
She could never have expected this.
"Oh thank you, Alpha." She responds with emotion and the Alpha girl, tall and full of red braids, leaves with hurried dexterity.
Hannah watches the Alpha walk away with her jaw dropped, before turning to Fer.
“Okay, that was so cool.”
"That was, huh? Do you believe… Katharina? They say even Hjordis will be here later…"
"No way! I mean… Well, that's why I was looking for you, I just think we should go home now, even if it's nice and all… this isn't our place. There's not much else to do here anyway.”
"What? Now that we're at the Alpha’s party, do you want to leave early? I’m fitting in, Han, I'm making friends! I was talking to these Alpha girls for almost your entire show… I think we're friends now." Fer waves to two radiant black twins with long, skinny legs chatting in the Alpha girl group behind them and the twins look at the omegas, feeling alert that they both are talking about them. “They are from Black Moon Pack!” Fer talks excitedly to Hannah, still smiling and waving at her newfound friendships.
Rosie takes Jocelyn's hand and pulls her sister down to the omegas.
“Here, fill our glasses too. We want two b****y Marys.” She places her glass goblets on the pile Fer carries. "Thanks." Without waiting for any response they turn to Hannah. “What's your name, Henna?”
Henna is actually just Hannah's tattoos since she's only 16 and being allowed to get an actual tattoo would be too much for her fuddy-duddy omega parents.
"Hannah." She corrects them with a beautiful smile.
Hannah knows very well who they are, the Black Moon Pack is the richest pack in The Agreement and their gold jewelry doesn't let that be denied.
"Nice. And cool tattoos.”
"Oh thank you Alphas!" Hannah can't hide her amazement at all the love she's been getting from Alphas who never knew she existed, even though she attends the same school as them and has admired them from a distance her entire life, as all other Wolves do.
“See?” Fer speaks still very excitedly, watching the twins walk out of there hand in hand, as they walk away into the middle of a dancing crowd. “We are friends with Alphas, Han!”
"Yes... Let me help you with that." Hannah then decides to intervene for her friend, who can barely move without dropping the stack of glasses and red cups, the glass ones look expensive and would do a lot of damage, so she picks them up and takes four of them with her, in her arms as well. “Fer, I think they're enslaving you here..." Hannah mutters close to Fer's ear as they walk over to the bartender's table.
"Of course not, it's just my omega function, I don't care." Fer shrugs, still smiling.
"Okay... Luc is also... you know, having fun, so since neither of you two wants to leave yet, I was thinking of checking out that lonely cabin in the woods, would you like to come?" Hannah sets the glasses on the bar table.
"What? Absolutely not! I'd rather be a slave for two decades than go to that scary place... I'm still not that crazy, Hannah!" Fernilia makes a point of putting all the glasses on the table with Hannah's help, before complaining, so as not to drop anything.
"Ok, ok, I'll go there, so you know where to find me, just call me when you want to leave..."
“How am I going to do that? No way am I going there!
“It’s just going downhill in that direction.” Hannah points out some trees behind them. “You just have to call me from the outside, or rather, ask for Luc's cell and text me then.”
"Alright, that's better."
“Hey omega, why is it taking so long?” Some girls who were left talking in the group yell at them.
“Going Alphas! The Alphas are calling me, so see you later, Han.”
"Okay... see you later then."
