Kinard hated letting her pay for his meal but since this was supposed to be a thank you for his ‘rescue’, he didn’t have much choice. Besides, she’d given him a scathing look when he’d started to reach for the ticket and he’d quickly pulled back. He still had to work with her so pissing her off didn’t seem like the best idea.
If this had been a real date, there was no way he’d let her pay, but she’d asked him, insisted he come actually, so he let her have her way. This time.
“This was fun.” Kinard held the door open for Deanna to step outside. The sun had set while they were inside, and the temperature had dropped from scorching to merely hot. “You on duty tomorrow?”
