Caleb’s POV  The cutting wind of the Bloodhowl mountains lashed against my face as I drove along the cobblestone road that led to the pack house. The territory was as familiar as an old enemy: the tall, dark pines, the smell of damp earth and wolves that impregnated the air, the distant echo of howls that resounded like a lament. I had sworn never to return here, not after what happened with Eva, but Mara’s call had been impossible to ignore. Ulfrik, the Alpha, had died. Eva’s father. And although Bloodhowl was no longer going to be my home, respect for the man who had welcomed me like a son—until everything broke—obliged me to be here. I parked the truck in front of the great house of wood and stone, the heart of the pack, where meetings and ceremonies had been held for generations. T
