"What are you planning to do?" Nicole asked as I started to roam my eyes around my room again.
I didn't answer her. Instead, I walked and headed to my closet beside my study table.
"What are you gonna do?" she asked again.
I threw her a glance and said nothing. I faced my closet and started to search for something that could make me remember something about my school years.
I opened all the drawers and looked at my things one by one. But I couldn't find any clue or anything that could give me ideas. I walked towards my study table and opened the drawer.
Nothing...
"What are you looking for?" Nicole asked again with so much curiosity.
"I need to find something that can give me ideas or that can make me remember anything about my school years," I answered while my eyes were still roaming around my room.
"How about... a yearbook?"
As if there was a bell that immediately rand after a
I heard what she just said, "Yes! Why didn't I think about that!"
I started to think about where did I put my yearbook when I was in junior high school, senior high school, and college. But to no avail. I couldn't even remember having one.
This was stressing me out!
I turned to Nicole and caught her roaming her eyes around my room. She wanted to help, I guessed.
"Can you ask the one who gave you a curse why I can't remember a single thing about my school years?"
She rested her sight on me, "Do it for yourself, then."
"What does she or he look like?"
"He," she corrected me.
"Okay. So what does he look like? Does he have a face not like you? Does he look good? Does he have wings? Or a halo?" I asked simultaneously.
I guessed I didn't breathe at all while elaborating my questions.
Nicole looked at me with her narrowed eyes and lips in a thin line. Like she was saying, 'seriously?'.
"What?" I asked innocently.
She rolled her eyes on me, "He's... he is scary."
It gave me goosebumps!
"Scary?" I repeated what she just said.
I wanted to know if I was just hearing words or what. But she just nodded idly and it gave me goosebumps again.
"What... what do you mean by scary? Does he have thorns? Or fangs? Red eyes perhaps?" I asked her again with my mind busy imagining the looks of that creature.
"I want to knock your head down, you know that?"
My eyes were immediately drawn to her. "I am asking seriously."
"You're exaggerating and it's not funny anymore," she said emotionless.
"Then what? Just say it directly so I can't imagine things."
"He looks like just a normal human being. But what makes him scary is that his aura. It's not just an ordinary aura. Just by looking at him makes me wanna pee. His voice was too deep that I felt being under the hell."
"You're the one who is exaggerating," I said. But I could tell that he was really scary.
Before she could say a word, an idea popped up inside my mind, "Attic!"
"Jeez! You scared me to death!"
"Now you know the feelings," I said sarcastically. "We're now even."
"Makes me wanna pull your hair until no hair is left on your head."
I didn't mind her and rushed to the left corner of my room and looked up. "We need a ladder."
Nicole snapped her fingers and to my surprised, a ladder appeared in front of me. I almost lurched in shock. I threw her a dreadful look. "You really want me to die fast?"
She just shrugged and point out the ladder. "You can go up now."
Unbelievable!
I heaved a sigh before stepping on the ladder. My heart was beating so fast that I didn't know why. I was hoping that I could find anything to give me ideas or memories that could let me remember about my past.
Darkness greeted me as I had successfully made my way to the attic. I carefully climbed up inside the attic and searched first for the switch of the light. But before I could press the power on, the light already made the darkness out of sight.
I cussed secretly before turning my gaze to Nicole that was now busy looking at the entire space of the attic.
"Seriously?" I fired at her.
She looked at me. "What?"
I just wagged my head in annoyance. A began to check out my things inside the boxes. From one box to another.
But there was no sign of any yearbook or at least anything valuable. I sat down on the floor, not minding the dust all over the place. I just felt hopeless.
"Hey?" Nicole called out my attention.
I immediately looked at her and saw her facing the cabinet full of picture frames. I stood up and headed at her direction. I looked at the frame she was pointing out.
My eyes narrowed because the picture was too blurred to see who was in the picture. Frustrated, I picked it up and wiped out the frame covered with dust using the back of my palm.
There were seven girls in the picture including me and Therese— the young version of us.
"I can't remember any of them," I said, almost whispering.
I looked at the other girls one by one.
"Why not open the frame. Maybe there's something written at the back of the picture."
I did what she said and my heart almost jumped out from my ribcage when I saw some scribble at the back of the picture.
I read it aloud.

For better, for worse.
No one and nothing or no one could tear us apart.
My heart sank horribly and was beating as if I was running for miles and miles. I shifted my gaze to Nicole. She was now looking intently at the picture on my hand. Though I couldn't figure it out if she was really looking at the picture or just thinking of something.
I turned my eyes on the picture and scanned again the girls in it. I thought this was taken way back when we were in junior high school. I guessed I should ask Therese.
"You should ask Therese. She's the only one you know that's part of that picture."
I nodded in agreement. I hope she would cooperate and would no be confused.
