Chapter One
The door opened and Anne, Brenda's elder sister, barged into Brenda's room holding a bucket of water and looking very furious.
With the look on her face, you would have thought she wanted to kill someone, and maybe she wished to kill someone.
She moved closer to where Brenda lay, sleeping soundly, she gave her a look filled with disgust and disdain before emptying the whole contents of the water on her body.
"Wake up!!" She screamed.
Brenda woke up with a start, feeling her entire body wet with water, and she didn't need someone to tell her that it was her sister who was responsible for this.
What should she have expected? Her family literally hates her, they treat her like trash for no reason. Every single day, she wonders what she's done to deserve the hate they've always shown her, but sadly, she never seems to have the answer.
She does everything they ask her to do, yet they always seem to find fault in all she does. Her mom, dad and her elder sis all hated her, and it broke her heart. She wasn't sure if she'd ever get used to it.
She had always hoped that one day her family would somehow change and show her love, even if it was just a tiny bit of love and care, but no, with each passing day her family's attitude and hatred towards her only increased, and it got to a point where she stopped hoping and resigned herself to fate.
She concluded that they'd never love her, and she would never get to experience the love and care of her family.
"Good morning Anne." She greeted him as she hurriedly stood and got down from bed.
Instead of replying to her greetings, she was rewarded with a slap.
"You're busy sleeping instead of being downstairs making breakfast." Anne yelled, glaring dangerously at her.
"I'm sorry Anne, I was exhausted, that's why, I'll go make breakfast now." Brenda replied while holding her cheek and trying to suppress the tears that were threatening to fall.
"Stupid girl, all you do is sleep like a log, do you think you're here for that?" Anne scoffed.
"You had better go downstairs and do the things you're supposed to do, otherwise, I won't be the one coming to deal with you, mom will." Anne said with a smirk. She knew how scared Brenda was of their mother, and she never failed to threaten her with that.
She hissed, then she left.
Brenda sniffed, then she wiped off her tears, she went downstairs, and she was lucky to not see anyone of her family members around.
She went to the kitchen and began to prepare their breakfast.

DR Industrial Corporation....
The building was a huge one with amazing interior and exterior decor.
The office buzzed with employees going about their daily activities.
Others were seated with their eyes fixed on their laptops.
Suddenly, they felt a cold chill and they knew instantly that their boss was in the building.
"Good morning Mr Dylan." They greeted him, but he ignored them as usual.
He walked briskly to his office and his secretary trailed behind him.
He got to his office and he sat when his eyes went up to his secretary and she quickly bowed.
"What's on my schedule?" He asked grumpily.
"Your schedule for today is kind of occupied sir, you have a meeting by 10am, but the time is thirty minutes past ten already." She said, while checking her wristwatch.
"Okay, is that all for the day?"
"No sir, You also have a meeting by 2pm, and you've been invited by Mr Liam to his company's 50th anniversary." She said , trying to give him the invitation card, but with one glare from him, she retracted her hands.
"Why didn't he invite me personally? This is pure insult, I refuse to be insulted by some lunatic." He yelled and his secretary flinched.
"Sir, he did, he told me he'd sent you an email for about a month now, but you never replied, he has also called you severally, but you ignored all his calls." She slowly explained and he sighed.
"I thought it was something irrelevant," he said.
"What time is the party?"
"10pm sir."
"Fine, and also...."
"Make sure you sort out the files before I get back, else! someone out there is waiting to replace you, I hate lazy workers." He stood up and he left his office, heading straight to the meeting venue.
While walking to the venue, immediately the workers saw him, they instantly bowed their heads down to their various laptops, some who weren't actually working pretended to be.
They wouldn't want to get on his bad side, losing a job here is enough to die from thinking because he pays better than any other company.

Meeting room...
A table could be seen in the middle of some men, who were dressed in black tuxedo's adorned with black Italian shoes. Bottle of water and laptops were placed on the table. A projector was placed on the wall displaying the details of the project.
The men sat side by side and the table separated them from each other. An empty chair was placed at the extreme end of the table, which was meant for the CEO.
The people murmured, wondering why Mr Dylan wasn't there yet. They knew they'd be in big trouble if they came late, so they came as early as possible.
"Can someone please explain to me why Mr Dylan isn't here yet? Doesn't any one of us think Mr Dylan is taking us for granted? I mean, if we had been the one to come late to a meeting, we all know what he'd do to us, and now, he's the one who'll be coming in late, what should we do to him?" Mr Fred asked. He's a major shareholder in the company.
"Watch your words Mr Fred, we aren't here for gossip". Mr Mark warned.
"Hmmm." Dylan cleared his throat as he walked into the meeting hall.
They all stood up. "Good morning Mr Dylan." They greeted him and he waved in response.
In normal circumstances he wouldn't have, but he just decided not to snub them.
He went and he sat down on his seat.
"What's our agenda for today?"
"Sir, my team and I have developed something new and I'd love to present it," Mr Mark said.
"Alright, let's begin."
