Chapter Ten

1090 Words
Night time.... It's been weeks already, and Brenda's family won't stop mocking her with the mistake she's made, everyday, life became worse for her, they tortured her physically, mentally and emotionally, everything became unbearable for her, she couldn't stand it anymore, yes she made a mistake, but they won't stop reminding her of it, their mockery and insults were too much for to bear. She sat on the floor, crying her eyes out, she didn't know what to do, she can't continue living here. Frank has left her, right when she needed him the most, he abandoned her and caused her to make a huge mistake. She placed a hand on her stomach, and she cried bitterly. How will she raise this child on her own, how will she cope with the new responsibility that has fallen on her shoulders. "This is all my fault." She cried. "I should never have trusted Frank, I should never have fallen in love with him in the first place, we should never have met." "If Frank hadn't been in my life, none of this would have happened, I made a mistake, and now I'm regretting that mistake." The thought of getting an abortion suddenly crossed her mind. "No, n n no, i i I can't do that, I can't kill this baby, I'll never forgive myself if I kill my child, I can't take its innocent life, this child has done nothing wrong, I'm to blame here, not this child." "I'll raise this child no matter what." "You don't even deserve to live after what you've done, you're nothing but a deceitful person, a green snake under a green grass, you're a w***e Brenda, a cheap and worthless piece of trash." Anne's words rang in her ears. "I can't stay here any longer, I can't stay here, I'll need to go far away from here, far away from everybody, far away from my family." She said, muttering the last part. "I'll never be able to put up with their insults, I won't." Brenda hurriedly stood up, she grabbed her suitcase, then she opened her closet, she started packing her things, she didn't have much clothes either, she took whatever she could, then she closed her suitcase. She quietly pulled the suitcase to the door, she opened the door, and she peeped to see if there was anyone in sight, when she saw there was no one, she gently dragged her suitcase along. She managed to get outside without alerting anyone in the house. She dragged her suitcase to the gate, she went to the small gate, she opened it, she went out, then she carried her suitcase too, she quietly locked the gate from the outside. She took one last look at the hell she calls home, she remembered the hurtful things her family said to her, and the tears began to flow again. Her hand went to her stomach, and she rubbed it. "I'll raise you on my own." She whispered. "I'll never forget what you have done to me Frank, you abandoned me right when I needed you the most, and that stranger, you've snatched my happiness away from me, you've ruined my dreams, and the ones I call family have never shown me any love or treated me like their own, I'll never forget their torment and I'll never forgive them." She said bitterly. She used her palm to clean her tears, then she turned and she left, not bothering to look back. **** Next morning.... Anne barged into Brenda's room, screaming at the top of her voice. She frowned when she didn't see Brenda in her room, her bed was was neatly arranged and it didn't look like she's slept in it. "Where the hell is Brenda?" She muttered. "Mom, mom come here please." She yelled. Marian soon came rushing. "What's it this time Anne?" Marian asked, she was kind of pissed off, her sleep has been interrupted and she didn't like it. "Look mom, Brenda isn't here." Anne said. "What?" Marian frowned. "Where could she be then?" "How will i....." Anne trailed off, she noticed the little opening in Brenda's closet. "Hold on a second." She said. She walked to the closet and she opened it widely, she gasped in shock when she didn't see Brenda's clothes in there. "Oh God." She groaned. "What's wrong?" "I think Brenda ran away." "What!!" Marian yelled, she rushed to the closet to see for herself and her jaw dropped in shock. "This is bad mom, who will do the chores now?" Anne groaned. "That useless girl!!" Marian spat. "So all she could think of is to run away." She scoffed. "If it hadn't been for the fact that we'll have no one to boss around I would have said this was a good think, but anyways, there's nothing we can do, she's an eye sore and it's a good thing she's left the house, less mouth to feed." Anne laughed. Marian shook her head, she wasn't bothered by the fact that Brenda has left the house, after all, she's old enough to do as she pleases, she doesn't care about anything that happens to her. "Come on now Anne, let's go prepare breakfast." Marian said. "Arrg....seriously mom, we'll have to hire a maid, I can't be doing any of this." "Whatever you say dear." Marian chuckled, then she left with Anne trailing behind her. ***** Five years later.... Brenda stepped out of the airport with her triplets in front of her, five years ago, she's managed to work and save enough money to leave this state, and now she's back here again. It's been one hell of a flight, but thankfully, they arrived safely. She breath in the sweet air of her city with a satisfied smile, she couldn't tell if she's missed this place or not. "Hi ma'am, where would you love to go?" She heard someone say. Brenda opened her eyes, then she saw a middle aged man putting on a security like clothing, but she guessed he was a taxi driver. "Do you know a nice hotel I can lodge with my kids?" She asked. "Of course ma'am." "Alright then, please take me there." Brenda said. The taxi driver took their luggage, then he put it in his car boot. "Come boys, let's get in." Brenda said. She opened the back door, she let her sons go in first, then she went in afterwards. The taxi driver went to his side, he got in and drove off immediately.
